Hi All, I've been a casual Orbiter user for a fair few years now, with my developing interest in space has come a developing interest in performing Missions as graphically realistic and programming wise realistic as I can, I have already created a 'fun' Install of Orbiter where I have some Fictional spacecraft and stuff, but I really want to do a Space Shuttle version that allows me to play with as max realism in Orbiter as possible, but also at the same time any MFD's that are helpful for easy Autopiloting to ISS or stuff would also be beneficial,
I'm just asking the users of this forum really what stuff to put into a vanilla install of Orbiter would make the best version of what I'm looking for?

I really want to be able to use Shuttlefleet, I do have the old install for it, someone says its better to make this shuttle version in 2006 edition, is this true?
What can the good people of this forum recommend for me?

Try Space Shuttle Ultra (SSU). Still in developpement, but you can download it, and if you want Space Shuttle+realism, that's exactly what you need.

Thanks for the Info, a list of MFDs that help for ISS/Realistic Operations?

Also does Ultra work with UMMU?

Not yet, but it would be possible to temporarily include UMMU support until we have managed to do something better there. But not in the next version, if you ask me. I want a feature freeze.

In case you ask: I would prefer using Donamy EMU meshes with animations and UHF support for that. Also the medical model of UMMU is pretty coarse for what has to be considered in the Shuttle Operations. If we already need to work around more stuff there, UMMU is only useful actually for handling crew transfers for compatibility.

AttitudeMFD - to keep the Shuttle under contant attitude control, and perform Twice Orbital Rate stuff and the RPM
IMFD - to perform burns for rendezvous
RendezvousMFD - another way to rendezvou with the ISS
DVToolsMFD - to perform OMS burns (gives info to enter into IMFD's DeltaV program), OMS burns for ISS approach, orbit changes, and de-orbit
RPOP (comes with Shuttle Fleet) - for proximity ops, useful for R-bar approaches, and the fly around
BaseSync - for re-entry and landing
AerobrakeMFD - for re-entry and landing

and there is STS Guidance, which will do a lot of stuff automatically, such as change the orbit, or rendezvous with the ISS, but I prefer to use the tools above myself.

thanks for the info cras and everyone, I have one more major question, anyone that has had experience with the Hi-res LC-39 could they tell me how I move the big cover that shields the actual shuttle, I know how to move the gangway with 'k' I believe but its stumping me :/

Sorry to double post but I just thought of some more information I'm desperately in need of,
If I create a fresh install
IN which order should I install said mods, including graphical mods, to get hi Res KSC, with added buildings, realistic shuttle, and great LC-39 (and Missile Row if possible) anything that really bulks out the KSC with features,

We all know how dubious it is installing mods onto orbiter, I've found myself come across many a crashing .exe
:thumbup:thanks people
