Constellation Program for Orbiter 2016

Diferences from the 2010 version:

  • no UCGO or UMMU
  • Ares rockets implemented using Multistage2015
  • Includes Spotlight to illuminate terrain and launchpad
  • Spotlights on vessels for docking in darkness and landing on polar regions.
  • Added landing site "bases" for the Moon real landing sites, slightly offset from the real locations.
  • Keys and checklist references added to the VC as textures.

Since Orbiter 2016 doesn't suport UCGO or UMMU, this version only implements simple LEO ISS mission and a conceptual Moon mission. For more info see docs/constellation_cev_2016.txt

Required add-ons:
Multistage2015
Spacecraft4

GeneralVehicle

Known issues:

  • LaunchMFD can't handle launching the Altair from the Moon surface.
  • Slight mesh mismatch between the Altair landing and ascent modules after separation while landed.
  • Multistage2015 autopilot spends more fuel to get into orbit than Velcro. So use the scenarios provided to get to the Moon.
  • The Malapert landing site was moved to a realistic location. PursuitMFD will land you there.

So much fun with this already!

I do have some troubles with the moonlanding scenario's though.
It keeps complaining about missing GV_LERWHEELS.

Hi everyone ! What a wonderful add-on, you've done an amazing job

Everything seems to work for me, awesome.
One little question however : in the Ares V Altair cargo launch scenario, the amount of Dv remaining in the second stage seems low in order to perform an earth moon transfer, burntimeMFD gives me 2.108km/s. The second scenario from the same folder where the EDS is already in orbit, gives 4.628km/s which is far than enough. Is the mission doable from launch to landing in Malapert ?

Edit : Oh and it seems like the Altair is not attached to eds anymore in the second scenario

The 2010 version used Velcro for the rockets.
2016 uses Multistage with similar parameters, but the performance is a bit lower.
I could fix it be faking extra trust, but decided against it.

Anyway, I'll look into this, it's mostly a MS2015 configuration issue.

For the EDS attachment / detachment that because it's now implemented using Multistage. You may need to use the scenario editor and dock with the EDS.

possible conflict of this add-on with "Donamy and Thorton's ISS for Orbiter 2016" or other ISS (ISS uses simplified "Spotlight 2")
the installation of these two add-ons should look like this:

1) Constellation Program 2016
2) ISS (with file replacement)
3) Spotlight 2 (with file replacement)

Spotlight 2 can take from here
