Gaming Chess anyone?

Hi!

I'm back.

...and so am I, now. I am a bit surprised at that move. I don't know why I was expecting you to go Q->h6. It seems to lead to mate on me one move less than it will this way. Check it, I might be wrong...

But a game's a game. Be back with my move in a moment...

Here you go...

...Pf6->f5

Till the next time...:tiphat:

What, you've never seen a blunder before?

The Greek term for that last move of mine is "patata" which literally means potato

Unfortunately, i'm well known for missing checkmates more obvious than that one.

Here is my next move: 16. Qd2-g5

All the best,

What I can say is I have certainly done a few jewel blunders myself this game. Hindsight 20/20, eh? But quite honestly I think you did it because you like prolonging the flavor of impending victory...

And I was always notorious for beginning to see the pattern well after it was too late to save my own skin. I see nothing's changed... :)

All the best. 'Till the next one...

Off-topic: If you haven't done so already, you MUST check-out flytandem's tutorials and challenges.
The man is an artist!

(That was a psychological strategy, to throw you off your game... this is really advanced staff, pay attention!)

why in gods name did you move that pawn, Keith?

:) Couldn't think of anything else to preempt his Q->h6.

Thinking of sending a Blok-2 Bishop on a TransX guided "Mission" to Titan?

Alright then, I'll have a look/see what the reason is I must check it...

For the moment.... MEOW!

...Q x Q

See you next time, all the best!

now that I look at it more closely, it was actually quite a nice move, considering that the queen exchange leaves you in a position of superior force, at least pieces-wise. The positioning is an alltogether other matter, though. hmmm...

In three minds about which way to go from here, but I'll settle for this. The bishop to e7, much as I hate to discover that pawn.

All the best.

Your bishop has the disadvantage of being able to cover only half the board.

I am sure this will end badly for me... like it should have done already except for your potato...

I don't think it's THAT bad for you. So far material is even. You have the disadvantage of the "cornered/not so well protected" King and i have the disadvantage of the 3 "folded" pawns on the "f" file.

If i were you, i'd go for an "exchange" game.
I'll do anything i can to prevent that of course. ;)

Move 20.Nc3-e4

the last three moves where predictable like a clockwork

Not much sensible alternatives, though, so it's hardly surprising. Great game!

IMHO, 19. Rg5-g4 was a mistake for white; Rg5-h5 would have been better.

Not a mistake. Let's say it would have been a sensible alternative. It might have tempted black to immediately move K-g8 (or g7, no matter), which would have been fatal. However, if black recognised the threat and instead did R-f7, white has to move R-g1 to keep the king traped, but would not have had the advantage of controlling the center-line.

So, it might have tempted black into a blunder that would have ended the game (not likely to happen, it's too obvious), at the risk of having a less favourable position afterwards. I thought it more consinstent with DGatsoulis playing-style (as I observed it so far) to take the safe route at this stage of the game.

Black couldn't have played Rf7 (not on move 19). Rg5-h5 seems an easy way of picking up a free pawn.

Oh my, would you look at that, I looked at the wrong screenshot when reconstructing the moves

I have to agree, then. It would not only have yielded a free pawn, it would have pretty much finished the game.

Yeah, i must admit, my 19th move was terrible. I only focused on getting my rook on a white square so the bishop wouldn't be a threat anymore. I also didn't want to give up the g file.

19.Rg5-h5 would have been much better.
Probably not a free pawn, (if you mean the h7) but I'd definetely start putting pressure on the bishop, which (i think) would be exchanged for a pawn.

Thanks for the comments guys!:tiphat:
