OK this may come off silly but I am taking a class in web design and it uses Dreamweaver 8 --which I cannot find anywhere (within reasonable price for students)

My college offers the 'new' version of Dreamweaver from Adobe, but that's not only not the same version, it is also $100. Mind, $100 is nothing compared to its full price, but I am only going to use it for these 8 weeks, so I am looking for a program that can do everything required by the assignments for free if possible. So WYSIWYG IDE s arenot really an option.

Oh BTW, I already used the trial for Adobe Dreamweaver, so unless I want to do some fancy technical work (format and reinstall XP) to reactivate Dreamweaver trial, its not likely a very good option.

Now then a while ago I downloaded the ISO that contains all express edition including;
Visual Web Developer 2008

Does anyone have any experience with this program?

I should note that the course I am taking requires specifically
HTML, DHTML, CSS, and scripting.

Oh and also the course uses Flash, now does anyone have any Macromedia Flash IDE alternatives?

I used to use 1st Edit

It sounds like it might handle most of what you are looking for ...

Syntax Highlights Perl , CSS, HTML, CF, ASP, SSI,
Flash 4/Shockwave/Java/ActiveX Support

WYSIWYG or you can edit the code manually .... and best of all, it's free.

... I know it's not Dreamweaver ... but it will do just about everything ... and did I mention it's free? :thumbup:

... nowadays, I just go the brutal method and do everything manually in vi ... but then, I'm usually working on HTA pages ... don't do any real web page work anymore other than for personal entertainment.
