Science Ancient Aliens (the Series)?

Somehow, in 2000 years.. it wouldn't be a shock to believe that people believed that aliens helped the Apollo missions be developed and sent to the moon, oh and that 1969 AD humans were 'primitive and simple dressed'.

Sorry Urwumpe, but I'm still not convinced that some ancient humans were capable of moving and placing massive blocks of stone without some sort of technology we don't know about today. I know about the pyramids history and the details they kept of it's construction. However, there are other monuments all over the world, some with considerably larger, massive stones which couldn't be moved with even our most powerful lifting cranes today. Whether it was some ancient alien technology or some ancient human invented technology, something besides rope pulleys and man power had to be used to move massive blocks.

I don't discredit the human race and our ability to achieve amazing feats, so I could very easily believe that perhaps humans then were smarter than we are today in many respects, but why it took 6000 years to get where we are today - able to land on the Moon and send robots to other planets, escapes me.

Indeed, building such a monument today would be a huge challenge, and it would certainly have been a huge challenge in the days of the ancients, but it wouldn't have been impossible.

There's an argument as to whether Yonaguni is artificial or natural, and it's important to note that there are many interesting natural geological formations vaguely similar to it around the world. The carvings on the rocks, for example, can also be interpreted as natural formations.

In addition, it would still not have been impossible for such a structure to be built by people of the time, given enough willpower and time- carving rocks, is relatively easy stuff. The infrastructure and knowledge needed to construct such a monument is heavily at odds with currently accepted archeology though.

Stone blocks do not a spacefaring race make. They are, as you said, not spaceships or advanced tools... I will still not believe an alien presence until someone discovers such an artifact.

If there was alien involvement that for as-yet some unexplained reason compelled the people of ancient Yonaguni to carve some impressive stones, why did they leave? Why didn't they teach the people there about the wonders of cellphones, rubber boots and power tools? Or at least the wonders of metal smelting or agriculture?

If I visited a primitive alien race, the last thing I'd do is make them all build pyramids or carve stones...

One human not - but what about around 10 humans per ton? You alone can already push a 1 ton car forward, if it is on even ground and in neutral gear. With a friend, you can push it already a lot easier, allowing you to push it over larger distances. With 3 friends, you can even push it up a shallow ramp. With 7 friends, it wouldn't even stop you if the neutral gear is not available (more friction).

It is not imaginable why somebody should do this today, without calling for a truck - but what if your best truck back then had been humans or animals?

I had once done a calculation how much time a group of humans had for transporting a single block for the great pyramid and this had been actually more than 2 work days, maybe I can find the math again and document it better. That time isn't magic in any case. A gang of workers would pull one rock for around a kilometer for one of their work days, go home, and pull another block for the next day. They could do that over inclines, could have relatively comfortable pauses in that time (= not less than what you deserve and forget to demand in most countries today)

Sure - nobody denies that. But often, that answer is really easy and again no magic or aliens. Just name one, and I'll look for the human explanations how something like that was possible. It doesn't matter, if there would be more than one plausible prehistoric way to achieve the work, the more means actually the better, even if this means that we don't know how it was done, because we know too many thinkable ways that fit to the evidence.

Yes I saw that too. To think someone could be that exact with "hand tools" over and over again, and on stone that hard, is questionable IMO.

Why not? Have you ever attempted it yourself?

I would even suggest, with hand tools you reach such precisions sooner in terms of craftsman experience. There are some processes known, in which you fit the stone right at the site. Also, such stones look usually only impressive at the outside, the inner invisible edges are usually less carefully worked.

Again, the thing you should always remember: Is it impossible for all humans, or is it only impossible for you, because you are not dedicated your whole lifetime to master a profession like that?

If you have no skills on a lathe, could you produce a screw with one?

It is possible, it just requires hard work.

You know, there is a lot of mystery behind how these people pulled off these feats, and their methods are still waiting to be discovered or theorised about, and I think a lot of it is really incredible. Do they include "antideluvian" Atlantis civilisations? Probably not. Do they include aliens? Probably not.

Just because something is unexplained, does not mean one can shout "it's unexplained, therefore, aliens did it!" and the problem will go away, especially why there are reasons that explicitly explain against some sort of intervention from extraterrestrial entities.

For example, the marks on those stones probably correlate with hand tools, rather than some sort of heavy machinery- if heavy machinery was used in these cases, we should be able to detect it.

IMO the History Channel should be required to pay a criminal fine for airing made-up conspiracy theory crap like this, because it contributes to the overall dumbing-down of the population. I remember when the History Channel used to run actual, factual historical documentaries...90% of which involved Hitler.

My guess is some of the ancient civilizations simply were more advanced than we currently think. Maybe they had some kind of simple mechanical "power" tools driven by waterwheel or windmill.

I have no clue on how to work stone, but with some imagination, I can produce a simple tool, that is made of wood, requires only minimal accuracy in production, and can still be used for making one stone get the inverted silhouette of an already placed and smoothed stone.

Just create a cross with two boards, with one board being able to move along the longer other one.

Combine this with a simple pendulum for getting vertical right, and you can quickly tell if you need to remove something from one stone or the other.

History channel still airs credible stuff- at least, as I can make out. The Universe is not that bad, and is good viewing for technical/scientific laypeople IMO, and Life After People seems to be quite plausible as it's based on interviewing experts. On top of that they still have some historical stuff, that I wouldn't be able to comment on since I don't watch it, but I would not imagine it to be that bad.

Unfortunately though the conspiracy nonsense is the most sensationalist programming on the entire channel...

I personaly believe that aliens have visited this system at some time in history... BUT most of the facts are purely speculative with barely backed wth any solid evidence... I almost laughed when they said the moon could be a giant spaceship built by aliens... Or that they can be controling the media...:lol:

When we think of moving stone monuments or blocks we think they did it in a matter of hours or days... As far as im concerned it could have taken ancient humans years to move something like the easter heads over to their current position. If aliens came here in the first place where is their signature???

How to move heavy stone blocks? It is well known that Romans stole many obelisks from Egypt and transported to Rome without heavy equipment. I don't know if there are detailed reports left of how exactly it was done, but the fact is it is possible to do that kind of stuff without modern machinery.
In Egypt there is quarry with half made broken obelisk that would weigh over 1000 tons when completed. I think it is safe to assume that those people wouldn't have started to make it if they were unable to move it from quarry to construction site.
