AIG Executives Blow $440,000 After Getting Bailout

These economic stimulus packages don't work too well. I remember the last "stimulus" package when I heard people discussing buying new TV's and the like. Now this is happening on a much larger scale.

One reason I did not support the bailout.

It costs money to check a bag? Never encountered that, even on the airline I use in North America.

I'm not up on anyones flight usage here but most airlines, well some airlines are charging for bag check. Now my usage is above normal I fly about 3-4 times a week and when I go if I go local then I don't get hacked checking bags. Now when I go international then it gets expensive checking bags.

Which was exactly its purpose. What did you do with yours, hide it in a mattress?

No, this is a complete different thing. You didn't support it because you thought it was someone else in trouble whom you thought deserved it, not realizing that your house is connected to the one you saw burning.

Well, to me it looks like US and UK are moving slowly towards bank nationalization.
Heavy supervision on banks and baliouts can lead to spending policies like AIG policies.
Instead, nationalized banks would respond immediately to government commands and taxpayers funds usage would respond directly to government actions, instead of passing through unnecesary corporate bureaucracy that could misuse funds to pay golf games and spa expenses.

Also government banks would not feel lack of trust towards another government bank.

Hmm, never knew airlines charged at all. Maybe it's only applicable to US customers, as I said: I've never been charged unless I've gone over the weight limit.
Only used NWA and Delta for the US carriers though.

Thanks for the articles, Fort!

I must say, it was quite the non-sequitur, but fun to read, nonetheless...
