Question Aerobreak mars at high DV

I am coming in at a high DV of 12 to mars, is it possible to aerocapture in the XR2? tried a few times and I always burn up. Is it impossible to do?

There is a scn file included.

Yes, but don't go below ~20km. But you will need to get as low as you can.

If you start to burn up, set AOA to <15 briefly climb to thinner atmosphere.

I recommend inverted reentry so you can use lift to stay within the atmosphere

An inverted reentry is best done with a joystick at hand.

Even a direct reentry works, if done within an altitude range of between 25-30 km and an AoA of 5° at maximum. It would be best to use the attitude autopilot in this case.
