Perry Rhodan: Begins with the first manned moon landing in 1971 (first issue was in 1961), ends 3000 years (and about 2500 weekly issues with 66 pages on the average later until today). Man lands on moon, discovers shipwrecked aliens.... something magical happens here... Mankind is a major interstellar power.

Battletech: Game of Thrones with titanic combat robots. But strangely your favorite character is never killed until the end, the most annoying character survives into the reboot of the storyline.

Perry Rhodan is definitely not the stuff you're looking for then. It's grand space opera that started before the actual spaceflight era and consists of pretty much everything from political plots, treasure hunts between the stars (and later between multiple galaxies), AI wars, war on galactic scale, war on multi-galactic scale, fending off extradimensional intruders (multiple times), the works. Also includes a fair amount of "super hero stories" involving telepathy, telekinesis, teleportation all the way up to tele-fusion (spontaniously fusing atoms by force of will, aka the ability to turn anything into an instant nuclear bomb). They even call these "superheroes" Mutants, several decades before the X-men.

The only thing I have not yet found in Perry Rhodan novels is any pretense of realism

Well, "ended" is a bit final. Lets say it "reached 3000 years in the storyline until today."

Of course, BattleTech is not LogiTech as well. :lol: Maybe that is part of the fun.

I used to be a huge fan of Perry Rhodan series when I was a kid. I loved those gigantic starships, mutants with superpowers(there are some Japanese mutants with awkward names) and aliens. There's always a jungle planet in every corner of the universe... I quit reading it when I got older simply because there was no room to store hundreds of these books in my tiny room.

Technically BattleMechs are [humanoid-shaped bipedal] armored vehicles, not robots, due to the requirement of a pilot.

OK, especially in the case of BattleTech, where the Mechs are described to be rather clumsy walking tanks, in comparison to contemporary Karate fighting machines. :lol: Gundam was clearly an inspiration there.
