Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas headed the two Ferraris in a closely matched first practice session at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Bottas, the world championship leader, was 0.115 seconds quicker than Sebastian Vettel, with Charles Leclerc a further 0.106secs behind.
Lewis Hamilton was fourth quickest, complaining that his tyres had not been in suitable shape on his quickest lap.
Practice ended with a crash for Racing Point's Lance Stroll at Turn Nine.
The Canadian brushed the grass on entry to the fast right-hander and speared straight into the wall.
The incident ended the session a minute early.

Ferrari have introduced an upgraded engine in Barcelona as the pressure builds to take their first win of the season but lagged behind their rivals.
Charles Leclerc was 0.301 seconds off the pace, with Ferrari team-mate Sebastian Vettel 0.088secs adrift.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen was fifth fastest, 0.751secs slower than Bottas.

Valtteri Bottas beat Lewis Hamilton to take his third pole position in a row and lead a Mercedes one-two in qualifying at the Spanish Grand Prix.
The Finn was 0.634 seconds ahead of Hamilton, who made a series of errors on his first lap before a slower track meant an improvement was impossible on the next.
Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel was third, but his hopes of closing on Mercedes were dashed by a 0.866secs gap to Bottas.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen was fourth ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.

Ferrari brought its power unit and aero upgrades early and still couldn’t touch the Silver Arrows. What did all that “speed” in pre-season testing mean?
 
Good start by Hamilton, leading. Vettel complaining of tyre flat-spot. Looks like fun.
