Rain wrecks third practice at French Grand Prix
Andrew Benson

Final practice at the French Grand Prix was rendered meaningless by heavy rain.
Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas set the fastest time with a lap at the very beginning of the session before the rain started to fall.
Within five minutes, rain was falling at Turn Five, at the top of the track, and had soon enveloped the entire circuit.
The Circuit Paul Ricard was silent for 40 minutes before a few cars began to venture out, just to get a feel for the conditions.
Only the two Williams drivers, Lance Stroll and Sergey Sirotkin, completed timed laps but they were more than 20 seconds off the pace.
The circuit was surrounded by clouds as the session ended and conditions for qualifying are uncertain.
