Indeed and I hope Team USA will have a strong showing at the Olympics this year.

With the bounty system allegations and other bullcrap going on in the NFL I for one would like to see US consider soccer a viable alternative. That and I heard an interesting statistic that American Football in high schools end up with more deaths in one year than a sport such as NASCAR does in most of its modern history.

Irland is trained by Trappatoni, an Italian coach who isn't really happy that he does no train Italy. Also the Irish game against Spain means nothing at all... that they would have lost was without question.

Team USA men didn't qualify for the olympics.

The men's olympic football tournament is the under 23 side with an allowance for 5 senior players. It's not really a major draw like the World Cup is (by design). The women's competition is the real attraction, and I think Team USA will do great there.

On the men's side, we just started our WC qualification bid, so look out for it on ESPN. We are getting closer and closer to making the sport respectable in this country.
