News 30th anniversary of the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope

25 years ago today, on April 24, 1990 at 12:33 UTC, the most iconic telescope in space ever was sent into orbit, beginning a dramatic yet ultimately fruitful life as the flagship of all on orbit telescopes ever. Today, it continues as the most sought after telescope for astronomers.

Hubble makes surprising find in the early Universe [heic2010]

New results from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope suggest the formation of the first stars and galaxies in the early Universe took place sooner than previously thought. A European team of astronomers have found no evidence of the first generation of stars, known as Population III stars, as far back as when the Universe was just 500 million years old.
