The Orbiter Screenshot Contest Autumn 2011

Venusian Sunrise The manual said something about clicking "complex flight model"...?

    Idea Always Active Joystick?

When I use a Joystick, I need to be careful in space because, even if you set it aside, it is very easy to bump it and ruin a smooth docking, or worse, hit the throttle sliders and de-orbit your expensive spaceplane accidentally. I liked using the DGIV because you could shut off the main engines...

    Project Underwater spaceport?

I think we should have an annual Orbiter Olympics, and the last event will be to try to survive a landing into this underwater-landing-tunnel-of-awesomeness/doom.

    Project Underwater spaceport?

What is the feasability/advantages of an underwater space bace compared to a conventional abovewater space bace? It appears to me that even without the massive extra cost/time associated with building/programming a complete spaceport underwater, the technical challenges of just landing make the...

    Monentized Youtube Videos and Orbiter.

Yes. I've seen a couple Youtubers average as many as 10,000 views per video when they do Minecraft, but then lose all their viewers and average about 500 when they try to do something else. ctye85 is a good example. He's a small-time You-Tuber who averaged about 1,000 views on his Minecraft...

Question Control Linked Engine Gimbal for DG?

I asked for this a while back, but no-one seemed interested enough to make it. I thought it would be pretty neat to do the whole J-turn and Pugachev's Cobra deal, and I think it would also help save a lot of RCS fuel while in high altitudes, because you could control by using the engines instead...

    Orbiter Screenshot Thread

More lens flare! Not too much, but at that angle there should be a large amount of lens flare. Otherwise, it looks sweet.

    Orbiter Screenshot Thread

Quickest way to waste $160 billion dollars. :suicide: Also, what's the deal with the icons at the top of your screen? They look like the prototype icons martins said were going to be in the next version of Orbiter.

Project XR2 Ravenstar - Mk II

I agree as well. Wasn't the original XR2-MK2 just supposed to be a simple MK1 update with a VC, not a complete interior/exterior mesh and texture redesign? Orbiter simmers are never satisfied. The more you add to an addon (teehee!), the more we want! At some point you have to cut it off, before...

General Question Im new to orbiter any tips?

    1. Make two separate Orbiter files, one for regular use, and one for trying out addons. Once addons are "installed" it is very hard to "uninstall" them, and your Orbiter install file can get very messy, very quickly. You don't want to wreck your main Orbiter file with hundreds of silly addons...

    Orbiter Magazine Article Submissions

I apologize for the very stupid question, and I realize that I should know this by now, but what is a VSA? What does VSA stand for, and why are they so hard to maintain?

    "Iron Sky" 3rd trailer

It has potential. The CGI talent is obviously there. It's success will hinge on the acting and writing quality. I am guessing the general premise is that when Germany lost WWII, they fled to the moon and began secretly building a massive strike force to retake the world. Seems pretty cool...

    Project G42-200 StarLiner

BSOD's don't always mean hardware failure. I have had 3 BSOD's, all in Orbiter, all in XR2's, all shortly after takeoff at about 5 km altitude. The last one happened about half a year ago, and I have not had one since. My machine has been running fine. (Also worth noting, the computer was brand...
