I wish to apologize for my conduct since registering on this forum. It seems that my cynical and sarcastic nature, and resulting abrasive personality isn't meshing well with some of the users and staff here. I did not mean to offend anyone.

I am used to forums that are a bit more relaxed, though not as bad as M6 was supposed to be (I rarely went out of the Addons section of M6, TBH, so I didn't see many problems). It is nice to see a moderation and admin team that is quite ontop of things, even if they seem to be taking things a little too seriously.

If it makes you feel any better, I suspect that several of us here fit the abrasive personality category.

Still, any body willing to make a public post like this shows character willing to modify behavior. Kudos to you.

Hey, live and learn, eh?

Did I miss something interesting? Didn't even know you were a member here, Travis.
Good to see an old face though. Even if that face is a questionmark.

I would agree with n0mad's comment - it's pretty likely that nearly all of us like an argument as much as we like chatting with people who agree with us. Using this forum reminds us to do it respectfully, which is no bad thing, but can lead sometimes to a pretty bland-looking debate. That blandness is only superficial - the fierce dialectic is still there, just expressed in ideas rather than personal comments. Those who enjoy flaming have many places to go and flame - youtube, for starters.

Full credit to Travis for emotional maturity and strength of character. I've made a resolution to follow this example myself in the upcoming "school year".

Edit3: Seems I'm not allowed to explain what happened as it's offensive to the staff...

So far, this forum feels like a new pair of work boots...when you buy them, they're fairly stiff, but as you use them, they soften up and become much more comfortable without losing any of the support and protection they give you. Perhaps, in time, as the mods get to know me, they won't feel the way they seem to about me at present.

Edit: Also, Si, how'd you avoid having a flag under your name?

Edit2: Nevermind, I found it...

Do not worry. I have an infraction in my account for being relaxed too.

Sincerity becomes unintentional offense so it is just a matter of being more like a politician.
Be a politician in this forum and you will be fine.

There are other places where you can be relaxed. Among adults you should play like in a political environment, specially in the presence of big egos.

If you want a more relaxed forum, you may try Atari Community.

I'll probably just go back to M6. I never had any problems there, and I never saw any of the flaming it was supposed to have.

Edit: Seems nearly every post I make is offensive to the staff, so it's unlikely I'll be here much longer...unless I make a new account...even then my personality would give me away... Martial Law sucks and if I were spiteful I could easily take this a few steps further.

M6 forum is historical only. This is the active forum.

M6 is the official forum, and always will be. This is just another one of the hundreds that have popped up over the years.

I direct your attention to the following topic: http://orbiter-forum.com/showthread.php?t=831 You will notice after several post, that Martin has indicated that the M6 forum is archival only and that Orbiter-Forum is now the official Orbiter forum.

Hope that helps.

Hey Travis welcome aboard. Instead of introducing yourself here by announcing how sorry you are that you have an abrasive attitude, maybe lett everyone know a brief history of yourself with the community. Many of the m6 first folks are here now. It is an open forum, please express your opinions freely and openly as long as it's not at the expense of others (especially staff). Moderators are evil creatures that roam the bulletin board and wreak havoc upon otherwise unsuspecting topics. Mods are just dying to pounce on the next new post and ready to devour it at a moments notice. Make sure your posts don't include anything that moderators like to eat. For the sake of pleasantry, O-F ask that there is not to be any discussion over staff actions here (it is even in the rules). This discussion usually results in more crap posts, which in turn, creates more food for the moderators and when the mods eat too much then they just **** all over everything! You can introduce yourself by filling out your profile page, it's alot like facebook/myspace (without all the fruity ads). I need to build my profile here someday... Cheers

Anyone can register under any name on a new forum and post anything they like. That people seem to have accepted this as fact when M6 is still active is quite interesting...

I have been here about a month (or is it two...), but tend to stick to the Addons section, as on M6. This thread is aimed mostly at those who have seen my posts and the mod team who have cut most of them to ribbons...

As far as this forum, I will never consider it to be the official Orbiter forum while M6 remains active.

M6 is no longer active. It's safe to consider this the official Orbiter forum.

Dude... don't believe me... just go to the M6 Orbiter site, click on forums, and read it there in all its glory.

M6 is still active. Most recent post was in the off topic section about 3 minutes ago and I'm writing up a post with my experiences here.

m6 is disabled. There have not been new posts since June. The latest post in the off topic section is Arthur C Clarke dies.

and you're obviously trolling/flamebaiting.

Troll Flame Baiting means you're making one/two line posts with obviously incorrect information seemingly with the
intent of stirring the hate pot. Normally this would only be a 5 point infraction that doesn't result in a ban, but you already have two other previous infractions that puts you over the limit here.

Game Over. Try Again?

Issued Infraction for Trolling, 5 points resulting in a 7 day ban.
