I like such documentaries. There are a lot of interesting things assumed by scientists and people. Some things already might have happened in the past. Some might happen in future. But no matter what happened already and how it happened, today we have 6.5 billion humans and a beautiful nature That's always the crux for me when watching, reading or listening some theories and hypothesis.

Yes, the documentary did also not end with the end of mankind, but with the end of our current civilization - at least for a while. It was assumed, that humans have good chances of survival, even though the death toll will be high and the infrastructure nearly not existing anymore.

Who knows. Maybe some people out there in the wide nature may remain untouched by some bad future events on different parts of the planet (and even don't know of). So a few current "civilizations" might continue to exist. I think that we have a good chance anyway because we are just so much and rather spread already.

Well, we still sit on the same planet in the same solar system in the same galaxy - of which we know that it is going to collide with another in many million years.

Actually, I did quite a bit of research regarding this because of a countdown timer to December 21st, 2012 I did in second life for a customer. He wanted something that counts down the days until then, so I hit the web and did quite a bit of research to learn exactly what it was all about.

The Mayan's do not believe that then end of the calender is the end of the world, it's simple the end of a (~5000 year) cycle, and, this time around, it's the end of the 5th of 5 cycles, signifying the end of a 'galactic day', one full rotation of the galaxy. They DO believe that at then end of each 5000 year cycle, that mankind reaches a major turning point in our history. Considering all the changes the world has seen the last ~100 years or so, I think we are just about at that turning point. Will the world end? I highly doubt it, but there may be a major change in the direction of mankind. Either way, hang onto your hats

Just as a side note, all this Nibiru stuff was slated originally for 2003, but when nothing happened they all said "oops" and re-slated it for 2012. I have a lot more experience with conspiracy theories/urban legends than I do with space or astronomy (though I am interested in both) and most theories are basically nonsense. Some do intrigue me though, like the Helderberg crash.

Edit to add: I saw a topic on abovetopsecret.com where some thought that NASA was lying and planets do not exist, they are a cover story to cover up God's existence. Which doesn't make much sense to me, considering most Christians believe in planets, and there is an observitory in the Vatican unless I am mistaken. He later said he believed in planets because people with telescopes were telling him he was wrong.

Just stupid this 2012 doomsday things, I'll get 22 years old on January 14th, 2013, I'm not going to die on December 21th, 2012. We would see it allready, also if it's very dark. That thing with the sun photos that should show Nibiru is like the "no stars" thing with the Apollo mission pictures, they see it, but don't know anything about optics. But it would look very cool:

Well damnit, mine is on the 30th of december...maybe we can talk to the CT crowd to get them to postpone this thing sometime after the orthodox christmas? That'd be great. I'd ask them myself, but all I found on google were a few youtube videos and some poorly designed websites without forums or contact information.

As I said, I have studied supertitions.
For example, the most feared prophecies come from Nostradamus.
I bought a book with the original text in french and english.
What I found is that Nostradamus probably was on drugs.
Poems are not sorted by theme, by date, and they are a collection of incoherent words. I found some text which allowed me to predict the result of a soccer game or a political scandal in my country. So such text is easily adaptable to any context...

I doubt the world will 'end' before 2012. All out nuclear war seems unlikely (A few nukings of cities may occur (hopefully not) but nothing big enough to destroy civilizations). Climate is not likely to change fast enough (for any reason) to be a worry before 2012. So I can't think of anything barring an asteroid impact (which probably won't happen until later).

I strongly recommend Arthur C. Clarke's The Hammer of God. Its a hard science fiction novel about a mission to divert a civilization killer heading towards Earth.

That's total bull, I was just viewing Jupiter through my telescope just the other day, just like Galileo did hundreds of years ago (before NASA was there to 'cover things up'.
