Yes, but is it art?

I love the Russian guy who is supposed to be looking after him. He looks just a tad pissed off.
And yes, it's art. At least compared to the crap that was in Tate Modern last time I went there.

Is it art?

Is it f***!

I genuinely do not see what the big deal is about splashing a load of colour randomly on a bit of paper, then claiming that it is representative of the anguish felt by Giordano Bruno as he was burnt at the stake. NO! It's f***ing random splotches on a bit of paper!

Whether it's done in 1G or 0G or 500G (if the artist somehow avoided being crushed), it makes no difference.

If that's art, then art is stupid.

But that's just my opinion!

I see the artist has succeeded in generating passion in the observer, maybe not the kind he intended though...;)

And, Simonpro, I agree, SafetyMan-No.1 looks severely...miffed at the waste of time and effort.
Another triumph of art over technology.

N.

I kinda get a bit miffed when I see someone randomly spodging bits of paint onto some paper, then selling it for tens of thousands of pounds, when I have to sit here and do five people's jobs simultaneously on a really crap wage!

The Russians are incredibly proud of their zero-g research, to be honest it's pretty embarrassing for all involved to have this type of tripe going down on what is, at the end of the day, a high-tech research aircraft.

I'm pondering emailing this guy and asking him if he'd be willing to try painting another picture whilst sitting in the LHC when it's operating.

You do? When I think that the pusher down the streets earns in one day what I earn in a week, and he's got no taxes to pay I'd go ballistic as in Minuteman.

What is art and what is not is a hazy definition.
I use to appreciate a good and original concept, immersion and psychological factor, or a very ellaborate technique. If none of those are present, as far as it depends on me, he won't get a high price for his work.

Is this art? To me it is just a spare time concept. Drawings were made too fast and they are crappy.
This is a crappy cartoon I made about food inflation in my country, on how inflation drive could become a propulsion system.

Or perhaps this is art?? It was just a computer composite, no real drawing.

Instead, the following drawings were purely made with ink and it took me far more time and effort to finish them.

Pablo, why all the astronauts are left-handed?
That's a good question. I never noticed that I did that until now.
I just tried those two pictures to look similar, and the first had a left handed person, so the second had too. And since one is left handed, the other must use left hand to shake hands.

In my opinion, microgravity art means nothing.
It is as much art as "painting while using diapers" or "painting while hanging foot from the ceiling".
If you had "painting while doing parkour" I would think about it as art...

Incredible drawings Pablo, really like the "end of Cold War..." one.:speakcool:

Bit puzzled about the airliner though D:

For the cream of the crop, google australia art.

In the past month we have had an artist almost charged for child porn and a magazine that has some very borderline images in it

The End of the Cold War one is good, but IIRC it is considered insulting to ask an Arab to shake with his left hand, no?

Then flip the image...
I am not aware about how insulting it could be.
If I understand correctly, left and right matter for people in India, not arabs.

you're misinformed. The right-hand vs. left-hand concept can be found in all cultures where the majority of the population did not have access to a water-toilet for at least 50 years. ;)
