STS-109 on-orbit, shortly after KU BAND DEPLOY/ACTIVATION (MET 000/02:34:44). Mission is uncertain at this time due to low flow-rate in Freon Coolant Loop 1 (FCL 1). Nominal flow-rate is around 305 lbs/h ,actual is 226 lbs/h (flight rule lower limit is 211 lbs/h). FCL 2 flow-rate remains nominal. MMT will discuss forward plan and confidence in the cooling system at 5 pm EST. If decision is to abort the mission it will be a "NEXT PLS" abort as dictated by the flight rules in the event of cooling system loss. Based on orbital tracking, the landing site would be KSC on an ascending node trajectory.

So 80mileshigh does that mean that we might see Deepstar with it’s cool new docking platform sometime in 20/20?

I hope so. I've got a new computer which is a motivating factor :) I can't promise anything, but 2020 is a broad target!

I've finished a new external model for Deepstar and the old landers, with the new lifting body landers pictured here at about 80% completion. The station is finished as are some refueling depots at the outer planets. I'm just starting on new bases. VCs will be re-done and are yet to be started - I want it to be nice for TrackIR users and VR in the future. 3.0 will be be a bit of a 'World of Deepstar.'

It's going to take a little while longer, I only get to work on it now and then, but I really wanted to be able to tease a progress shot before the end of the year :)

Getting back into Orbiter in 2020 just for this.

Columbia on-orbit during STS-107, exactly 17 years ago. In the middle of handover activities between the Red Team (Husband, Chawla, Clark and Ramon) and the Blue Team (McCool, Brown and Anderson). Red Team is heading into their sleep period while the Blue Team has just completed the post-sleep activities beginning their Flight Day 4. One of the last activities for the Red Team was stowing and latching the left forward radiator panels which had been deployed since FD1.

Would be a nice pic, except for that green thing.

What green thing? Are you talking about the green area to the right? That would be the Xo1307 bulkhead. Not all of it is covered by the MLI blankets. That area used to be covered with a red paint but on some of the orbiters like Columbia, it has worn away over time and absent a hard requirement for it, it was never re-applied during the OPF flows so the green Super-Koporon primer applied to the aluminum skin is visible.

I've attached a photo of the same area taken during the final PLB Closeout activities for STS-107 in the OPF. Note the green and hints of the red paint where it used to be.

Looks too boxy and not a good resolution. Maybe a little out of focus would look better. JMO
