We are so very good at shooting ourselves in the foot and wasting money.

Well, it lasted 15 years.... but yes, does not look like a smart move. I am pretty sure, as usual, the problem is not what something costs, but which people the government actually wants to tax and which businesses they want to subsidize....

It deeply frustrates me, we keep doing this time and again, spend money to set something up then spend money to get rid of it a few years later.

Okay, this isn't going away but it is being absorbed by whitehall so will lose any independence and will be seen as a budget hit so will end up getting neglected.

They will notice that without dedicated national spaceflight agency, they will fall behind the countries that have it. They aren't even in the EU, so their space program is just a ESA budget soon.

Very disappointed by this. Even here UKSA was low profile, you had to go looking for it.
Probably budget, Government is skint and it looked like an easy cut.

We still have ESA...

Government is always skint and yet they can pay out millions to merge one agency with other because believe me, the proposed changes won't be cheap and I wonder how many staff will get laid off.
