It was especially comfortable to drive on compared to all the rest of the roads, of course. Also, I remember the limit being 130 km/h, have they changed that? I mean, there were some pretty tight turns in there for 130, but it worked...

Maybe the national speed limit is higher, just made a short query and found most sections restricted to 120 km/h or less. Also I don't want to find out if 130 is really possible....

I also left the A5 for the first time (By turning left on a US style full Y interchange, a rarity in Germany!) to drive on the newly constructed A49 from Gießen to Kassel this year.... After 50 years. Saved me 10 minutes, most of which I spent in the traffic jams in Kassel, that I usually avoid by crossing Kassel on the A7 (which I need to take anyway - there are only few roads that cross the mountains on both sides of the Werra river)

My wife mixed a Chili with a Ratatouille. I love both, but the idea of just throwing them together never occurred to me. It's delicious!

Why not... sounds like almost my favorite recipe of chili which adds an unholy amount of vegetables to the pot. Sadly means that usually, I have chili the whole week. Chili with rice, chili with flatbread, chili and noodles, chili pure, chili burger, ...

First swim in the North Atlantic waters this year. Quite hot water here, defintively way above 20°C. The plains of mud that the sea discovers when the tide is low can store an impressive amount of heat, kind of like brick. Then cool water (19°C) of the high tide gets heated. You absolutely can't see your toes, but you can really stay in the water for hours. And it is said that that mud isn't bad for the skin. 🌊

First cycle fall of the Summer, stupid (and harmless) one lol. There was a railroad crossing with a train stopping in the village, got distracted by that, didn't watch where I was trying to step down from the bike and fell on the side as there was a slight incline. And just next to a stopped car, the people inside were like 'OMG are you OK?' lol, as my arm hit their door a bit. It was a bit 'ridicule' 😅

Just discovered the C comma operator and took massive psychic damage... 🤮

Even worse, I discovered it used in the most confusing way possible in code written by a huge name in computer science that ought to have known better. 🤮🤮🤮

In my experience, computer scientists are not very well known for writing readable code...

In my experience, the more famous the computer scientist, the more likely it is that their code is indistinguishable from a swearing mathematician in an email.

Whenever you think, the world has gone crazy and humanity doesn't deserve this planet, something magically cute happens. Last month, a mouse statue of the title figure of the famous German childrens TV show "Die Sendung mit der Maus" fell victim to an act of vandalism, with unknown criminals setting fire to the statue, damaging it badly. It was a really heartbreaking sight. Now, such figures from childrens TV have a hard life in Germany, being regularily kidnapped and held hostage for various political movements. But nobody ever dared to attack and destroy them.

Since then, people have spontanously covered the statue with plasters and get-well messages. And I love it. Its also a great way to cope with the event for the children in that town. Its not like the statue was in a backyard or on company grounds. It stood until this week in a plaza surrounded by hotels and shops, right in front of two office buildings of the public broadcaster WDR, that produces the show since 1970 (Its also the second biggest public broadcaster in Europe after the BBC.)

A few days ago I managed to run 10 km without stopping for the first time ever :D

Today, I managed to run over 6,25 km in three 15 minute laps with 2 minutes walking in between... and that with still over 100 kg... Only 1 1/2 weeks left until the company run and I finally return to the living...

More than honourable!

I'm especially proud of my result because until 14 or so months ago I had never, ever really run - I followed this program of sorts to get started: c25k.com/c25k_metric/.

I got my training plan from the homepage of the company run, but the training wasn't really lucky, lots of problems with a stronger than ever allergic reaction for a long time, took a while until I finally managed to do the training as planned.

And while I was running before, I gained 12 kg weight last autumn, and gaining was a lot easier than getting rid of it. last year, I did 4.5 km at peak, so I was optimistic for doing a 5 km run, but hell, I wildly underestimated the amount of work that was coming at me.

But the important lesson: Never give up, impossible is negotiable.
