I recently got bored and installed an old V2 rocket found in a rocket pack from igel.

Everything works other than the fact that the rocket doesn't want to sit upright, it always has an 84 degrees inclination instead of 90 and of course because of that the whole trajectory is getting out of hand.
Now don't get me wrong, i knew that this will most probably be an issue because the old orbiter didn't have elevation and other stuff most probably but still

I tried to "fix" it with AROT from the scenario editor but even though you kind of can change it's position .. i never managed to do it right.

Is there a way i can force the thing to sit upright ?
Also how does the AROT function work? i thought it's x y z but i failed miserably to force this stubborn rocket to behave.

Did you turn off the wind?

Otherwise, the old V2 needs a launcher....

Wind is off.
Also please expand a bit about the launcher part (in case it's not a joke that flew over my head :) ), you think i could attach it to another thing through scenario editor?

So it isn't just tilted by wind.

Yes, IF this one could support auto-levelling. Maybe somebody would like to make a generic small launch pad for such old add-ons.

Can u post a scenario. I think it how touchdown points are defined

Thanks. 1 more thing. Which addon? I should be able to fix it this weekend

It is tilted in 2016 also. But I think it is built like that to be like that?
SetTouchdownPoints (_V(0,-1,-7.013), _V(-.7,.7,-7.013), _V(.7,.7,-7.013));
Not straight up

I know the addon well from the old orbiter 2010 and it sits straight up just like a rocket, 90 degrees.
i will install it on 2010 and post a screenshot if you need one for reference or any stuff like that. Anything i can do to help just ask.

Ok. do a screen shot of the f1 view

You can even see it in the autopilot at launch if you use 2016 or 2024. The moment you launch it the poor autopilot tries to bring it to 90 degrees where it should be initially but it fails and all the trajectory is ruined by tens sometimes hundreds of km off tgt.

Not sure. How to launch the rockets?

I wonder if a launcher need built and it is attached?

To launch the rocket either press NUMPAD PLUS one time - the rocket engine will start instantly and the autopilot will do it's thing or press the O key on the keyboard and it will launch but with a countdown that you can set in the scenario. The variable it called "launchdelay". Be aware that the countdown won't show up anywhere on the screen.

Also in the 2010 version the rocket doesn't have any launchers or anything like that .. i have no idea if you will need to make one for the 2016 - 2024 versions.

I think I know what the issue is. In 2016 and 2024. There are no flat surfaces. I built a base for the v2 and it had that same angle. So if the pitch has to be 90. Maybe adjust the attachment of the base? or built flat area?

That is a NICE base man! I know about the no flat surfaces in 16 and 24 and probably that's what's going on. that's why i tried to rotate the thing into position but to no avail.
I tried to make a flat area in 2016 with Dimitri's tool but i think i failed .. i need to try again. However i put the v2 on Europa which is flatter than earth because it's not up to date with elevation and the angle went from 84 to 89 degrees.

Thanks I tried to built a flat area. But I don't it fix it.
I can try to adjust an attachment and see if I get the pitch to 90 if that works?

One thing I tried was to rebuilt the v2 using 2016/24 sdk. But I ran into errors I didn't understand

Anything that will make it stand upright works for me. I'm also currently messing with flat files and no luck so far.

Not sure. I have adjusted the attachment and even though the rocket moves the hud/pitch are the same?

Maybe it needs to be redone in 2016 sdk?

Like I said I tried and got errors.
like this:
oapiWriteScenario_float (scn, "RANGE", Range);
'void oapiWriteScenario_float(FILEHANDLE,char *,double)': cannot convert argument 2 from 'const char [6]' to 'char *'
