Hi everyone,

Here are some pictures of a project i started two years ago. Since i have no official blueprint, everything is done by guessing the dimensions from pictures, open nasa documentation and drawings. The first attempt i made was not precise enough so i decided to start over and gather a bit more documentation. This time i'm quite happy with the result so i decided to share it with you.
This is still a work in progress and since I work on it here and there i don't expect it to be finished before at least two or three years i think. I'm good at C++ but i never worked with the orbiter API yet. However the 2024 version has a better documentation and that gave me hope to continue with this project.

My goal with this project is to have a visually good looking add-on with a detailed (and accurate) interior. I also hope to simulate some systems but at a basic level (at least at the begining).

Thanks for sharing this news. I really enjoy seeing what others are working on, and learn a lot from descriptions of work-in-progress (especially when problems or challenges pop up and solutions are found - or, sometimes, not). Please continue to post updates.

That looks awesome!

Some progress made those last days :
  • Seat rails
  • back bulkead equipement
  • center console
  • center panel
  • main panel handle
  • side panels protection grids
  • side panel equipement
I think next i will work on the equipement between the seats.

Traditional "spam in a can".
I tried VR in blender to verify if things are done reastically and I got a sense of how tiny it was (especially when you have to spend more than a whole week in it !)

I did something similar years ago (before I had children!), when I wanted to estimate with a rough cardboard model how large a Gemini capsule simpit would be in my apartment. My guitar gear needs more space!

Hi everyone, it's been a while. I had the opportunity to work on some parts. I made good progress on the equipement between the seats ( water management system, storage and main cabin lights). I also improved the central main panel.

next i want to continue working on panels and buttons.

Do you plan to make the panels and parts of the cabin gear customizable? The real Gemini had a lot of different cabin and panel configurations, depending on mission and of course, spacecraft configuration. Reentry uses a "one size fits all" approach, but this isn't really realistic. Also the water dispenser was different on some missions.

You are right, the configuration of the panels, experiment specific hardware, and so on made each Gemini spacecraft unique.I found a way to get access to mission reports wich includes crude descriptions of the cabins and I rely on photographs. Sometimes it's very very hard to know how a specific part was for a specific Gemini and you enter guessing territory.Plus sometimes, i find multiple sources (nasa, mcdonnell, a contractor, an astronaut report) that are contradictory, and then it's a headache. To be honest the task to make all the eight versions is overwhelming at first, especially for a one man team. My plan, with the time available to me, is to make a spacecraft quite close to Gemini XII since it was able to dock with agena and do nice stuff, contrary to the first ones. If i'm able to pull this off, i'll be happy. Maybe i'll do one or two other configurations afterwards or leave it to the community.
