Cosmonaut from Kursk to fly to ISS on SpaceX Crew-9
Aleksandr Gorbunov
Live broadcast of the launch

I see the Indian media still portraying Crew-9 as a rescue mission, and the two astronauts onboard as rescuers: https://www.businesstoday.in/techno...es-with-two-nasa-astronauts-447985-2024-09-29
SpaceX launched a mission on Saturday to bring home two astronauts, Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore stranded aboard the International Space Station (ISS) after Boeing’s spacecraft failed to return them earlier this month due to safety concerns. The latest SpaceX Crew 9 mission is carrying two astronauts instead of four to bring both stranded members of NASA back to Earth.
By the way, I'm wondering how to pronounce "Butch" in Butch Wilmore? Bengali-language media render his name as "বুচ উইলমোর", indicating the pronunciation booch.

I would pronounce him like /bʊtʃ/ (IPA - International Phonetic Alphabet), but to be sure one has to ask him himself ;)

Looks like we successfully launched the quarrel about the lack of gas with Russia into space... :ROFLMAO:

I thought that capability existed already, although perhaps not in 4K. In any case, I have seen live vids from the ISS, but , of course, they could have been prerecorded.
No, ISS live downlinks have existed for quite a while:

Standard Definition, with Space/Ground audio:

High Definition, sans Space/Ground audio:

The comments below are gold. "Just because they don't feel abandoned, that does not mean that they aren't abandoned." After people did an interview with them, have a purpose on the station and a proper return is organized and scheduled. Maybe SpaceX should have completed the latest "face lift" of the Dragon faster so, that its ready to launch earlier....

Being able to lie without blushing is probably a job requirement for new government employees.

The background story why Musk wants to deorbit ISS soon
Well after all that, the 'rescue mission' has been scrubbed.
