I bought an entire box of donuts so that I could have one for breakfast. My kids ate all of them overnight. I'm starting to think people were a mistake.

Thats what happens to the icecream I buy.... it weirdly vaporizes inside the freezer.

Your children know how the game is played. You'll have to buy more donuts now. They know this.

I would never have gotten away with that as a kid. My parents are pretty laid back, but that just wouldn't have flown. Any time we had sweets in the house, we knew exactly how many we could take each, per meal. If we wanted stuff in between meals it was easier to beg and get dad thinking "a doughnut would be good right about now".

That's because sugar is addictive. And children can't understand what it really means : diabete & obesity, and can't manage the frustration.

I suggest another approach : buy a few meters of good chain and a strong lock, and sleep with the keys around your neck. Or go out once a week with the kids to have a donut / icecream outside.

It depends on the packaging. Leashes and harnesses for kids are definitely a thing, but they're usually pink and fluffy. Chains induce mostly the same desired effect, but have a much more metal look

The UK Speaker of the House of Commons is responsible(with others) for the smooth running of its business.
Usually when he stands up, MP's sit down and stop speaking. Didn't quite go like that yesterday...

Well, if you risk it in Germany, our president of the parliament can order the parliament police to politely haul you away (In severe cases).

Not sure, how they compare to the Neukölln police officers, who stopped an attempt of fascists to storm the parliament with just three police officers in 2020. After the US event about six months later, the parliament police got a lot more power to handle such attacks, including better equipment (They already had MPs and bulletproof vests before, thanks to the RAF threat in the 1970s and 1980s), but since nothing happened at the Reichstag (The nazis got their photos, but all with the aftertaste that only a small number of police officers held the line), nobody outside Germany really noticed the event. Maybe a few US neo-nazis got inspired to attempt this a few months later, the beginnings of both events had been very similar, also the people who incited the attack on the Reichstag building quoted Trump ("Its no fake news, our informers told us that Trump is in Berlin right now.") and the QAnon movement as their motivation.

It was the weekly Prime Minister Question time, and it can be noisy. Speaker would be expecting that, with Boris Johnson standing down as Leader of
the Conservative Party, but not Prime Minister.
These two Alba Party members were demonstrating for a Scottish Independence referendum, I think thats why he got so agitated.

Lots of security in the Palace of Westminster now after several terrorist attacks, pushing their luck if they didn't go quietly.

I feel like Netflix' "The Seabeast" could have been a genuinely great film if it wouldn't have tried to be "How to train your Dragon", but instead would have gone all out for age-of-sail-ish monster movie. it's still a good watch as it is, but the gritty ship atmosphere (which the movie pulls of pretty well, in a cartoonish sort of way) just won't quite fit together with the wimsy...

I still have to watch the complete movie there, thanks to my family, I only saw short fragments of it.... but so far, yeah, it could have been a much better movie with more own ideas in the plot. It also had a "Ballerina" like start, took a big bite of Moby Dick and yeah, some How to train your Dragon. Also it left a lot of its own possibilities behind, the human side had many chances for giving the characters more depth, but somehow only the titular seabeast got it. Most humans simply come, do their job to push the plot over its holes and are never seen again.

Yeah, it's essentially "Moby Dick, but it turns into how to train your dragon halfway through". I feel like "Moby Dick, but it turns into Pacific Rim halfway through" would have worked a lot better for the characters as well as the general atmosphere the first act builds up to.

I have no problem with the fact, that the sea beasts are not what they seem. Maybe the format of a movie was simply the error. I actually like the world building there, its really the greatest inspiration, if you forget all those other movies and their plots. A serial might have been a better choice to give this world room to breathe.
