Depending on how much LOD the various OVP clients implement, I suppose there's a chance that it could actually take less ram than the current textures, since you don't have to have hires textures for Saturn loaded while in LEO.

well I have 2GB of Ram which is a good amount. and a GeForce 8800GTX for a video card. hopefully if external graphics are implemented in this version. then this is most likey a HUGE stepping stone for OpenGL features. such as a good atmosphere, shadows, etc

Speaking of OVP clients, does anyone know which one was used to take these (assuming it's not some other manner of trickery all together)?

I wonder what type of computer is recommended for the level 12 textures? Having 2 GB of RAM, a Radeon HD 2600 XT and plenty of HD space, I'm sure my computer can handle it, although I'm not sure about others.

Aaaaaaaaand we're off again. :D

mmmmmm....... looks delicious.

Standard DirectX 7 client, which will be coming with the stock installation.

YES! DirectX7, so we are only three version behind. It will be a great improvement though.

I wonder what else will be improved in the 2008 version, does anyone know?

YES! MORE ORBITER! I wonder what else hes going to do!

Minor bugs will most likely be fixed. There is really no telling what else is in store for the next version of Orbiter.

That means it shouldnt be long for the next version.
Do not be too optimistic. Just because three pictures are available, it doesn't mean that it will be released soon. It might or it might not be out soon.

The major features of the new release as far as I know:
* Separation of the graphics engine from the physics core
* Embedded scripting engine, based on LUA.
