The wreck of a German U-boat that sank almost 100 years ago has been discovered by engineers laying subsea power cables.
Remarkable sonar images show the missing World War One submarine is largely intact and lying off the Galloway coast.
Experts believe the vessel could be the UB-85, a sub that sunk in 1918, according to official records.
However, naval folklore suggests it may have been attacked by a "sea monster".

Impressive sonar technology - looks almost like you can now simply stare through the water to the bottom of the ocean.

Fascinating. I looked at the article and I didn't see what the water depth is, did I miss it? If it's not too deep it's easier for divers to get a closer look at it and identify it.

According to the map in the article, its about 100-120 meters deep there.

missing U-Boat

The U-boat was still afloat when the British warship rescued the crew, the Captain insisted that the sub was attacked by a sea monster with teeth that glowed like moon light maybe looking at both wrecks of identical boats in the area and see which one was attacked and which is which

So if there are teeth marks then it's UB-85? That would certainly make it easy.

The description reminds me of Jules Verne, actually...

Seems like that section aft of the sail has been crushed by one of the monsters tentacles.

Here is a scale model of a UBIII class submarine for reference:
