Hi there,

Was there never just an actual begining section of the International space station?

The complete version is fine, but I like small stations, which aren't many of realistic stations. Only Salyut and skylab.

I'm guessing there never was just a small ISS at first with a couple of docks.

That is exactly how it started.

I think that Donamy has made a modular ISS add-on... "ISS A to Z"

David also has the ISS Fleet, which has several variations of the station depending on how you write the scenario.

Thorton's [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3737"]International Space Station v.3.2[/ame] has many stages of construction from the beginning of the program to now, including a standalone Zarya.

David's ISSFleet is here on Simviation. It's on the second page.

Since your looking for small stations, maybe you'd like a few other stations to play with, like [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=5917"]Tiangong 1[/ame]. Mir's core module from [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2536"]Thorton's Mir[/ame] might be something to look into as well.

Also, Skylab isn't small. Just seeing it by itself or with a Apollo capsule in Orbiter doesn't give you a good idea how big Skylab was. Scenario editing a UMMU(or one of 4throck's astronauts) to be nearby Skylab gives you a sense of how big Skylab was. It's much bigger than the biggest Salyut, and is more comparable to stations like Mir and the ISS in terms of mass and volume.

There's a Salyut station (the early single docking port type IIRC) on Orbithangar too.

Speaking of the ISS, I wonder if anyone is trying to re-create all the flights since the launch of Zarya - the Cygnus flight last week is the 150th in ISS history. Well I would admit that >1/3 of them being run-of-the-mill Progress flights is a bit boring, but still it can't be more boring than Dantassii's thousand flight lunar station, right? ;)

(and that's already less boring than Mir too - 64 Progress flights out of 110 that formed Mir's flight history!)

Actually I've only flown 202 flights, but I'm estimating it will take about 4,500 or more to complete it. I may have to break down and build my own lunar shuttle that removes all the things in the XR5 that I don't need (who needs wings on a vehicle that never enters an atmosphere?) and doubles (or maybe triples) the payload capacity. ;)

This was from the first year of the station in habitat.

This was from the first year of the station in habitat.

The ISS looked more like this during Expedition 1, starting in November 2000, nine months before your image was taken:

The station was entered during its first year in orbit by the crew of STS-88, when it looked like this:

From humble beginnings...

You can fly any ISS mission, if you know what to attach in the scenario file.
