Funny how you can adapt to having low FPS on some games. TES Oblivion runs smooth, but according to a friend , it still lags. Last week, I modded Skyrim to run better on my rig (lower textures, modifying the config files for absolutely minimum specs etc) and it works well. I mean, the FPS is still quite low, but it's definitely playable. In close quarters and with multiple foes, it can get almost turn-based, if you know what I mean, but otherwise it's fine.

Before I had my current PC (runs Skyrim smoothly on ultra settings with all sorts of mods... don't hate me :shifty:) I was adapted to playing games at 15-25fps tops, with no complaints. Once you get out of there, it's hard to go back...

I have just discovered "Troll Science"

What bothers me most about this image is that the author used "whereas" instead of "wherein". Everything else is legit.

Hi there, I'm coming to you live from Hearts Of Iron III...

Nice! I'm incredibly late to the Paradox party, but they have some great games.

Paradox makes some fantastic games. A bit of a tip for HOI3: I tend to disregard the naming conventions for units, except for brigades and divisions. Corps, Armies, Army Groups, etc are all named according to where they're fighting. E.G. If I'm playing as the US, there won't be an 8th Air Force or 5th Fleet, there will be a 8th Euro Air Force and a 5th Pacific Fleet. It's not exactly 'historically accurate' but it helps to keep things organized.

This afternoon at the Wolfsburg Christmas Market...

Well, this ain't no Christmas Songs.

No-good ruffians, the lot of them.

Well, they left three points as early Christmas present here, the VfL Wolfsburg goes into the round of 16 as leader of the group.

Now the question is just... how does my home town look like tomorrow, when the ManUnited fans went home again.

RIP Wolfsburg. No one survives an influx of ManU fans...not even Manchester.

Trying to find some place with a good steam room / banya in the area. Been feeling achy and not-quite-sick-but-not-quite-well. End of semester burnout plus all the students getting sick isn't helping.

Some gyms have them but not so many allow non-members guest access.

The Zumwalt class is doing its first patrol... I still wonder why this is counted as "destroyer". The ship displaces 15000 tons, 5000 tons more than Ticonderoga or Arleigh-Burke. It actually weights twice as much as comparable ships in other countries.

And I don't even get started about the costs there.

Because it's a powerful word for the politicians (the dumb ones).

Good old feature-creep, possibly.

Its got more to do with the fear of the costs associated with Cruisers and Battleships, even though most modern warships don't fit the historic definition of a destroyer but do a cruiser. If navys call it a destroyer it "can't" cost much.

A 41 year old woman died in a hotel room in Frankfurt, Germany, during an exorcism. A second woman was rescued injured and dehydrated from a house that the group of exorcists rented. The deceased woman had been beaten for hours until she choked by a towel

The exorcists are a 44 year old woman, her 21 year old son, her 19 year old daughter and two 15 year old boys - the nationality or religion are currently unknown, but could be also not considered relevant for the crime.

Not sure there. Until the cold war, the classic definitions of corvette, destroyer, frigate, cruiser and battleship worked well, even the newer battlecruiser was no anomaly. I think you are right, the name is not so much about the battlefield role, but about the fiscal program under which the development is located.

Even at the planned 20 ships, the Zumwalt class would have been too expensive to act as escort for more precious assets - it actually rather is the expensive asset now that needs its own escort.

Have you seen those "frigates" they bought? Goofy looking and too expensive to be a frigate. As much as they cost the NAVY tries to keep them at sea, which shortens their lifetime; things are already getting beat to crap by waves in water they aren't really designed to operate in...

That Zumwalt class sure is a goofy looking ship. We'll see how well she fares I suppose. I really did like the Burke Class, I remember when it launched (I wasn't there, but I was still active duty then.

Nothing sailing now looks as good as my old girl though

Maiden's new album came out this summer and I find out about it now. Didn't even know they were planning a new album anytime soon. Talk about being behind on the news.... When The Final Frontier came out , I was happily headbanging at their concert

Not quite sick and not quite well? The answer my friend, is bourbon! Room temperature and no ice.

Or given the season, hot butter rum. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/67101/colonial-hot-buttered-rum/

I've been eyeing my Tommy Tew. It's too good to waste as hot buttered, much better for sipping.

Really after about 9 of them all your troubles start to melt away.

As would my ability to walk, focus my eyes, and to speak.
