Happy Independence Day to our Americans!
Make sure the brain is in gear before handling fireworks.
Well, it looks like the Earth is about to get clobbered...

Do not worry, the Olympus is not a warship.
"I know this machine as well as I do my 3 fingers"More like common machine accident (not that they are common, but when they happen, they commonly go down like this).
I don't want to count how many fingers or even scalps have been ripped off people by CNC machines.
Replacing one of these things is *SNIP* getting a new computer.
Don't think of it as a smart phone, think of it as a pocket computer.
Huh? You've been able to do that on Android for some time. HDMI out (or WiFi screen casting) and USB in (and/or out). There is stock support for mouse and keyboard.Your smartphone is roughly equal in performance to, if not a better than, the computer you had a decade or so ago. The only reason you can't dock it to a keyboard, mouse, and monitor and use it as a lightweight desktop out of the box is lack of vision, and possibly ulterior motives, on the part of the industry. Don't think of it as a smart phone, think of it as a pocket computer.
And gamepads. I've got a friend who has a N64 emulator and a USB capable N64 controller. It actually works pretty well.

The port can connect to an OTG adapter for USB host, or MHL adapter for HDMI out. Probably not both simultaneously on my phone.Your phone has USB in?
Doesn't matter what it is. A large object striking the Earth at relativistic speeds would be catastrophic. I recommend coming out of hyperspace in a safer direction...
Star Trek is guilty of dangerous practices all the time, so don't worry about it.
The fact that Starfleet thinks it's safe to park starships with antimatter bottles in low Earth orbit and operate antimatter-powered devices in the vicinity of habitable planets, for example. If just one of those bottles' containment field fails, BOOM! Everybody dies.
