How long does it take, in average, for an addon to be approved, and in case it isn't, do we get some kind of message/notification/whatever?

I'm asking this because it's been a couple of days since I uploaded an addon, and so far it's not been approved but in the meanwhile some other addons were, so I'm not really sure if I should try again or wait a bit more.

I'm pretty sure it was ok.

There is only a single person who approves submissions at OHM from new users. It's done by Orbit Hangar Mods Administrator, Vash.

Only new add-ons of users who haven't uploaded any add-ons earlier wait for approval, so the new add-ons you noticed appearing after your upload most likely didn't even need to be approved.

An add-on can wait for approval as long as Vash doesn't visit OHM. It can be a couple of minutes after your upload or a few days. If the add-on hasn't been approved after a couple of days of waiting, you can send him a PM at O-F, or use the "Contact" form at OHM to notify him about it.

Thanks, bro, that took a load off my mind. It really is my first addon

It can take several months. First the Grand Comitee for Add-on Validity Assessement (GaCAVA) has to meet and deliberate about the validity of your proposal. There are 31 permanent members and a majority of 2/3 is required. Then you have to pass the General Registration Board (GRB), a group of administrative experts that will ask you to scan all the papers and certificates required (notably the 442.351a, 537.852f, and 903.351g, that must be properly filled with a black pen in capital letters, copied 3 times and properly stamped by your local administrative authority). Expect the usual administrative delays. Once this is done, you will be informed that your addon has been pre-selected and has been forwarded to the Assembly of Independent Testers (AIT). Those highly qualified people will carry meticulous testing of your addon and, if you are lucky, emit a positive advice to the GRB. Those tests usually take only 4 months, except in holidays periods. The GRB has to review that advice, compile all the data and write a Pre-Approval Synthesis (PeAS). At this point things can go fast, usually less than 2 months, but you have to send by mail the appropriate stamps. Once you've got the PeAS, things are pretty good for you. A final and official request has to be done to the Small Comitee for Add-on Validity Assessement (SaCAVA). The 7 members, will have discussions and debates about the ethicity of your addon. If all goes well, the Supreme Council of the Probe (SCP) will give its approval, and your addon will be published on OrbitHangar.

However things are not finished, as the AOFM (Assembly of Orbiter Forum Members) can always and at any time comment and rate your addon.

:hmm:
