Im running the latest Orbiter version and installed various addon ships and all of them are invisible. Ive made sure that the spacecraft2 and spacecraft3 DLL's are in the modules/plugin folder (for some strange reason the DLL's unzip to the modules folder not the modules/plugin folder so I corrected this).

I have also looked in the scenario file to make sure it is calling the right ship etc. I am using onboard graphics at the moment (Radeon x1200) so could that be the problem?
Thanks for any advice.

This is the problem. Only plugins like OrbiterSound and MFDs go into the plugins subfolder. Vessel modules go into Modules.

Thanks for confirming that, but I have tried the DLL's in both locations but its still invisible. Also when i go the the cockpit theres no fuel, when i fill it up with the scenario editor the engines dont work.

Which vessels? Some older vessel act like that.

I posted links below to some of the ships that dont work.

Ive tried all the usual things, fresh install and then only installing the addons. Driving me mad, its been 10 days now ive been trying to fix this.

You may need stage.dll for Orbiter 2010.

Prometheus works for me. Orbiter 2010p1.
The Spacecraft3.dll ( you only need spacecraft3.dll ) needs to be in the Modules folder, NOT Modules /Plugin.

I always zip into a separate folder. Then open the folder and copy and paste the contents into the Orbiter main folder.

Could you post the contents of your orbiter.log file? (question: are you loading the vessels from scenario editor or launching orbiter with a scenario containing the vessel? in the first case, the log wouldn't be much help).

I do that too, i prefer to drag and drop the folders from the zip to the orbiter folder so I see the folders and files before they copy.

Checked all that you said and its all in order, im wondering if theres a module or something I need that you and the creator have and forgot to mention, because it just wont show even after a fresh install of orbiter.

I never thought to do that, good idea thanks. I am launching orbiter with a scenario containing the vessel, not importing it with scenario editor, in fact ive never tried that yet.

Are these ships invisible using the stock in-line graphics client? Or just with the D3D9?
There is a tab somewhere to make symbolic links to the config (and sound) directories in order for them to work.
Your log file shows an error loading meshland and SC3; I've not used meshland in ages so I can't help you there. But you may want to ensure that SC3 is placed correctly and that you've linked to the config folder.

As mentioned above:

0FoHOTa.png

Press "Advanced"

7MRbosp.png

Then "Create symbolic links"

They are invisible whichever graphics client I use.
Meshland was for 1 addon that also gave me problems so i intend to remove that, how do you mean "you may want to ensure that SC3 is placed correctly and that you've linked to the config folder" the SC3 is in the right place but i dodnt know about linking it to a config folder?

From the log file

Module Spacecraft3.dll ....... [Build ******, API 060425]
**** WARNING: Mesh file name not provided

This means that SC3 is reading the .ini file but is unable to find a mesh that the ini file refers to. Rather than CTD it'll show nothing which is probably the OP's root cause.

It would be good to see a copy of the scenario as well.

Guys thats fixed it!! create symbolic links was the answer, I used that once then totally forgot about it, many thanks for your help, woohoo!

We're not always awesome, sometimes though we can even amaze ourselves.

Glad you got it running, so we'll be expecting you to contribute to the screenshot thread now.

Cheers bro  Its a lot to soak up and my memory is shot at my age.

The baffling thing is how people dont have problems that im having, like craters that float next to my ship and fly alongside me and terrain textures higher than they should be so the ships appear sunk into the ground, it looks like im the only one getting this.

Start a new [Problem] thread, with your orbiter log file, maybe what scenario you're running and perhaps a screenshot. We can all take a crack at that one too.

Thanks mate I appreciate that. I got a new graphics card today and its fixed one problem i had, not checked the other issues yet, so hopefully you wont hear from me again in this section.
