I'm somewhat saddened to see how slow the donation target for the month gets filled. Seems to me that we need JUST 40 people to donate $2 a month, and JUST 9 to donate $5 a month to hit the $125 a month target to fund this site.

$2 ... honestly, it's that simple. Make it a recurring PayPal donation linked to a credit card or your bank account, and feel good that you are supporting all the discussion and knowledge exchange with your fellow Orbitnauts.

I would like to think that all regular posters here, especially those in the 1000-posts+ club, would consider becoming a regular donator.

Who agrees?

Many of the members here are actually not capable of it. Many are students without reliable or disposable income (for instance, I can only devote time to the forum and to addon development, and even that is in limited supply,) and others simply can't spare anything. For that matter, it's simple enough to support a community one is part of, but what if one is in several communities, and must pick only one or two, if any, that he can support?

I don't speak officially for the owners of the forum, but I can say: all donations are accepted graciously, but it isn't something that is demanded of users.

Absolutely, There are many ways people support the forum, just by being members and participating. Before I was invited to join the staff and was just a wet-behind-the-ears-wannabe-astronaunt I have no real clue about space flight and thought orbiter was broken as I didn't get into space by going straight up. The people on the forum taught me differently and right up to today I'm still learning things thanks to one hell of a community that we are lucky enough to have here.

If it gets filled eventually, who cares. Also not all donaters reveal themselves.

N.

And not all donors do love the mess with having to use paypal for everything.

This is the only forum I've ever donated to and it took me a couple of years of being a member before I felt that I wanted to donate - it often takes time before people want to make the decision to give their money to causes. I'm glad I did though, even though it was only a small amount!

Biggest problem is the process in donating. Not everyone has a paypal account, or feels comfortable putting funds into it.
