Williams driver Pastor Maldonado said he was aiming to turn the first pole position of his career into his maiden win at the Spanish Grand Prix.

The Venezuelan was promoted to pole after McLaren's Lewis Hamilton was thrown out because he did not have enough fuel to return to the pits.

F1 is a farce at the moment, and it's all due to the tyres. Three drivers couldn't be bothered to set a time in Q3 just to save tyres. It shows that saving tyres is more important than starting the race at the front. Schumacher complanied at the end of Bahrain that most hardly anyone is driving at full speed anymore because the tyres (artificially) can't take it.

Racing at all levels should be about who can drive the fastest, not about who can look after their tyres the best.

So you want to go back to the Bridgestone days when the races where decided in qualifying and the first 30 secs of the race.

LAP TWO
Michael Schumacher is a man on the move, too, putting a move on Vettel to lift himself into sixth. The German is now all over the bacj of Romain Grosjean. Pastor Maldonado might have lost the lead, but he's the fastest man on the track at the moment.

Yes, because F1 only existed 'now' and in 'the bridgestone days' (which from a quick google search shows that was basically 1997-2010 and I expect that you're talking about the latter part of that where F1 had tyres provided exclusively by Bridgestone).
