That's what I'd be happy with.

I knew I saw him before, it's Commander Riker, TNG. :hello:

I think I'll just have a seat...

Actually, I looked more like Riker a few months ago...

New job is very satisfying: working in a garden centre. Outside all day, watering plants, and putting out the occasional cigarette fire. Not getting further ahead financially, but hey, it's not a kitchen.

OK, revisiting the "hot anime chicks" subject...

 You're not the one I expected to hang on that topic.

Just playing with Geogebra. Kinetic energy of an 1 kg body as function of speed.

Red line = according to the theory of relativity
Orange line = according to classical mechanics (as in Orbiter)

The green asymptote marks the speed of light, where the energy tends to infinity.

Does this theory of relativity make my butt look big?

We had a pair of Bear-F's buzz the New Jersey back in '88 (thats 1988 before any of you dudes comment (grin)).

MattBaker beat me to it, but however ancient *you* might be, us young whippersnappers know that neither Bears nor the New Jersey were around in any previous '88. Unless you mean this Bear and the state rather than either of the BB's named New Jersey.

Tetris is the best.

I've recently returned to my saves on A Link to the Past and Super Mario World (SNES emulator on phone). Very long, very addicting games. :)

I know Im biased as a red-blooded canadian, but NHL 94 was the best of SNES. I mean, nearly 20 years later, & I still find it more fun to play than anything EA has managed to produce in the meantime.

I remember when I could barely wrap my head around the idea of a touchscreen. And I'm only 19. ._. Technology...

Tell me about it (Im 20). To me, technology made the most sense before it made the jump to mobile, iphones & tablets & the like. There needs to be a time & place for everything, but technology has just gotten everywhere. Its much too oversaturated. As if this will change things though

We had a pair of Bear-F's buzz the New Jersey back in '88 (thats 1988 before any of you dudes comment (grin)). They are really big, they flew close enough for everybody who had a camera to get some good pictures. I could see members of the flight crew waving, a few of our guys mooned them. Ahhh, good times.

Good lord! I dont think I would be trying to buzz anybody in a big beast like that.

How very mature of your crew. I dont think that glastnost was supposed to extend in that way.

Never played '94, but NHL '96 for SEGA Genesis was basically my favorite game to play with my brother. (random fights!)
Those are back when individual games were made almost solely by one programmer, and there were only a handful of big names in game making.

The you'll love NHL 94! NHL 96 was absolutely terrible by comparison, skaters outrunning slapshots... bleah

NHL 94 was much better, especially in the graphics, I guess a strange thing to say about 2d games, but there was a difference.

On one occasion The USS Sacremento has a ship on her starboard side, us on the port side while we were fueling another ship off our port side.
My hometown! :) but it's actually Sacramento ;)

The one time I had time to ask, was post-Glasnost (spring, '92) with a bunch of (now) Russian sailors at a bar in Aarhus Denmark, and we were too busy getting drunk to talk shop.

I had a friend in a computer class this semester who had the honor of watching a pair of Marines drink a pair of Aussie bubbleheads under the table.

My job is similar now: drag carts back to the store, load concrete mix bags, and help load bags of potting soil, fertilizer, and large quantities of lumber.
The Home Depot that I work at is just at the other end of the neighborhood from my house, compared to the other end of the county for the airport!

Oh, they always reciprocated when given an opportunity.

It was during the "Great Denmark Drunkfest" that I really got the opportunity to talk with my Russian (former Soviet) counterparts. It was there that I got a real appreciation that, no matter what country maight have a persons loyalty or allegiance, being a sailor out at sea, away from home and family, blows.

It was something that we all shared and realized around a big circular table. If we'd only manage to get politicians to see the world from our point of view the cold war wouldn't have lasted nearly as long as it did. Many of us then realised that it was the greater humanity that we served, not so much our politicos safely tucked away, miles from danger.

The beer was cold, and the friendship was warm. I hope all those guys finished out their careers and went home as safe as I did (I wish I could remember the name of their ship, it was what we called a Udaloy(?) destroyer). There were two Lithuanian Krivaks (?) along with us.

Seriously though, some of the best memories I have you just wouldn't believe. Many might think "Well, that just can't happen", well, often truth can be stranger than fiction.

So...playing Dangerous Waters earlier, and had just sunk a Kilo in two shots (first one missed due to countermeasure). I reveled in my victory, and turned towards the north (my original course). Then my sonarman told me that a torpedo was heading for me, so I ordered a emergency blow. Now, everyone neglected to tell me I had joined formation with an ASW FFG.

"Why is there a shadow...ohhhhhhh."

Heh, Home Depot here as well. All that orange everywhere. Across the county from my house, though. (In a neighbouring county, actually.) :p

Aaaand now I want to play [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sub_Command"]Sub Command[/ame] (Ironic, with the posts mojoey has been making, because it was also made by Sonalysts, who made Dangerous Waters. I think that was actually the 'spiritual successor' to SC). Wanting to play SC makes me sad, and also frustrates me.

You see, there was a glitch in the third mission. It couldn't be finished. I never got past it, and I actually only recently got rid of the game (that's the sad part - I actually liked the game quite a bit).

There was a Udaloy that was doing a missile test, shooting down an empty drone (an Airbus A330 I believe). Your objective was to take station on the Udaloy, observe the test, take a picture, then leave, without being detected. Problem was you could satisfy all the mission criteria, and you still could not achieve Mission Complete status.

And now I know why.

"Conn, Sonar, cavitating!"

Uh oh, this could be bad. Three really good classics, and I could spend hours on all three. *sigh* If I get this, the ideas I have for the Cortez will never see the light of day.

A vertical forest is nearly complete in Milan. There are two tower apartment complexes which contain a total of 400 residential units. The facade of the buildings will be covered with 730 trees, 5,000 shrubs, and 11,000 perennial plants. It is expected to have the same ecological impact as 10,000 square meters of forest.

Aside from fighting smog and producing oxygen, the foliage is expected to provide insulation to the residential units.

Hmm - idea seems good however living with all those trees on the building amount of insects will be staggering. Beetles, wasps, maybe even hornets will have great feeding ground next to suitable home.

Well, where is the place where its stands? Its a very good idea, and it would be stand nice if there are modern buildings are near it. But I don't really find it nice for the whole view if it is placed near mostly old buildings.

Well, cause it also more or less mosquitoes?
