Probes, Ladies and Gentlemen, here is a chance for glory and excitement...

I give to you the return of...

The Orbiter Screenshot Contest: Autumn 2011

SUBMISSION IS NOW OVER, PLEASE GO TO THE VOTING THREAD

The Orbiter Screenshot Thread is a marvellous gallery of the talent, knowledge and skill that is present in many of the players and developers of Orbiter Space-Flight Simulator.

:ohthedrama:

So why not have a contest of these wits?
There are no prizes for winning - only glory and... and... a nice warm feeling!
(Seriously though, this is just a little thread for a bit of fun and bit of friendly competition between Orbinauts.)

CONTEST MECHANICS

  1. Post your image here, in this thread.
  2. Image submission deadline is at the end of the 31st November. (If not many people bother, I may extend this deadline...)
  3. After this deadline, an anonymous poll shall be added to this thread. Everyone can then vote for whichever image they believe is the best.
  4. Vote counting will happen about 3 weeks later, depending on how quickly people respond. The image with the highest votes wins. In case of a tie, there will further voting rounds (with less candidates) to decide a hierarchy.
IMAGE RULES

  1. Only one image per Orbinaut!
  2. Please use .png file extension if you can.
  3. The only image editing allowed is cropping and resizing.
  4. Please upload your image to your Albums on this forum, then insert your image into the post using "Original Only" mode. This allows people to see your image most easily.
  5. Give your image a title (it'll be used in the poll) and perhaps a little description to give a bit of extra atmosphere.
CONTENT RULES

  1. THEME: "ISOLATION": anything to do with this emotive aspect of space-flight, from bases to moons to UMMUs doing strange things...
  2. Please try to follow this theme. We are quite liberal here on OF, but anything containing ponies, baces or surfases may be met with a very negative reaction!
  3. Try to avoid including dialogue boxes and info text (such as debug strings, and the text at the top of the screen, which is removable by pressing "I").
  4. Any addon may be used, including Graphics Clients. Any view may be used.
  5. Nothing obscene (:shifty:) or offensive please. This is supposed to be vaguely artistic you know...

Need help with uploading images to OF? Start here...
GENERAL RULE: Have Fun! :hello: May the Probe be with you. :hailprobe:

It's a bit old, posted in the OST a few months ago, but this I think is my best screenshot to fit your theme:

Neptune_Encounter.png

"Neptune Encounter." Orbiter's premiere giant-sized vessel, the Arrow freighter is rendered insignificantly small by cold, silent, mighty Neptune.

What the hell, I might as-well give it a shot

A Pic from me and Tex's Space Race thingy.

EDIT: Does this follow the theme?? If not, i can change it.

XR2marssunset.PNG

Martian Sunset - A lone XR2 orbits Mars after a journey of several months (when it was docked to the Arrow Freighter).

(actually, just used scenario editor)

Didn't I basically do the same thing?

Except: It's at Earth orbit, doesn't have zero bank (relative to surface), the thrusters are burning, it's a different camera angle, and it's a DGIV.

Edit: Also, you can't see the sun. It's dusk.

Following Voyager:

Cat's Eye Nebula:
catseye2.png

I replaced the star.dds with a pic of the nebula and placed an Arrow in orbit around it. I also tweaked the ambient light a little bit, so that the "back" of the Arrow doesn't appear completely black.
Finally i used Photoshop only for cropping and resize.
