Last year I started work on a series of solar systems based on ones presented in various volumes of the Gurps: Space Atlas line of role playing supplements.

When I heard that a new version of Orbiter was coming out I stopped work on the project to wait and see what changes would be made to the planet configuration files.

I'm planning to resume work on these projects shortly. Rather than necropost in the old project threads I'm going to link to the final Orbiter 2006 working files in this post so that people can see where things were at.

My first stage in reviving this will be to convert the config files to Orbiter 2010.

1. Shinju Star System
Thread: Shinju Star System

Working File: ShinjuV0b (Orbiter 2006)

2. Corrin Star System
Thread: Corrin Star System

Working File: Corrin V0b (Orbiter 2006)

Good luck with development, any idea as to a release date? :tiphat:

I'm not going to give a firm release date for these. Sorting out the stats is easy (if time consuming), getting proper graphics done takes more time.

And I still haven't figured out if it is even possible to re-size the central star.

Look to the release of a Orbiter 2010 practice system in the next few weeks.

Work on the practice system continues apace (A Pre-Alpha Version is attached to this post). I've confirmed the Orbiter 2006 Config files seem to still work in 2010, which does simplify things greatly.

The system itself comprises one star, two inhabitable planets and two large moons orbiting the inner world, along with the ISS and a Delta-Glider. Essentially it's a sleepy agricultural system. To keep within the attachment limits the attached file does not contain textures.

I'd still like to know if it is possible to re-size the sun or will I have to create a pseudo sun to place over the real one?

A small progress report. I've done some testing and found that Orbiter 2010 does resize stars!

As proof I've attached below four system portraits taken at distances of 270-273G from the central stars of the three systems I'm working on (Corrin, Trevor, Shinju) as a well as a baseline picture of the Sol system taken from the same distance.

I relocated the development files for a fourth system I was working on. These seem to work fine on Orbiter 2006, but unlike the other systems they cause Orbiter 2010 to crash. I'm mystified as to why.

The orbiter log (Below) is very unhelpful, so I've attached the development files to this post in the hope that someone else can figure out the mistake.

That's a great project you are working on ! good luck ;)

Hope you enjoy flying through the systems created.

I haven't got round to adding the remaining gas giant moons, but I've updated the test scenarios for the systems in the OP. They are attached below.

Not the progress report I'd hoped to do, but I've got a system to the 'Only needs textures to complete' stage. It's rather sparse, but the challenge of navigation should make it a worthwhile test location.

Any and all reports of problems/difficulties are welcome.

I've started working on a surface base for the Uderzo system. Hopefully I'll have something ready in a few days.

Real life pressures have stopped me from working on any of these lately.

I plan to restart work in the new year.

I am getting ready to restart work on these.

If anyone has feedback please contact me. If you have not already done so please feel free to download the current working files.

As a quick sampler here is the current view of one star of one of the systems, for the others see my earlier post.

Just to let everyone know that I plan to revive this little project at some point in the near future. I just have to relocate all the testing files.

I also have a very specific question. The last time I attempted this I had a lot of trouble re-colouring the stars. If there is anyone who can help with this I would be very appreciative.
