This are "some" (5282) bases with runways for Orbiter 2010 P1.
This files are automatic generated from the open street map project (see www.openstreetmap.org)
The xml sourcefiles are also avarible here: http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=5107, for the case, someone fill advance the parser tool.

Please note:
It is possible to activate all this bases in Orbiter, but under some conditions, Orbiter got some problems, for example, if you try to select a base on the map mfd.
Existing runways may be overlaped by the texture of the generated runway,
so for example, you should delete the "Shuttle Landing Facillity.cfg" before starting Orbiter.

The runways / bases are not looking verry well, i hope it's ok for the first try;-)

But i hope for base developers, they can be usefull.

An osm XML export can be found here:

You can find the Eclipse project used to generate this files including sources here:

Do you have closeups pictures of these runways?

If its as good as it sounds the days of manual runway positioning are over. Just plug in terrain and buildings :3

Hi Carmen A,
http://www.orbiter-forum.com/member.php?u=5893no sorry i haven't, but as i sayed in the description, they are not looking verry good (i'm happy that they have a center line) ;-)

But maybe, if someone will develop the parser tool further, they would be looking better.

The runways are not for "using out of the box", even if it's possible, but yes, i hope this can help base developers :-)

In terms of plotting approximate base location and creating a runway at the correct heading; that saves a lot of time with airport creation already.

I installed this. My map is completely clustered and running slow now. I tried to delete it, by unzipping into a blank folder and the finding the offending files. However, after unzipping, the folders/contents contained in the zip file do not appear on the installation. Only in the config file do I find a folder called AIR (or something) containing airport files. I deleted these, yet when any scenario loads, I still have to wait for all 10000 airports to load before the scenario starts. So why is this not deleting completely?
