Hey guys I downloaded Orbiter Shipyard to try make a vessel, but when I click Meshes>Add the program crashes.
Does anyone know what might cause this or how to fix it?

Darren

Hmm... Ask Artlav. Maybe send him a PM? By the way, you should post the problems and bugs on the alpha testing thread for Orbiter Shipyard. ;)

As a matter of interest, and getting some use out of this already-dead thread, what kind of vessel were you making?
(Or if it's classified, PM me) ;)

I'm afraid it's kind of pointless to ask.
I no longer have the sources or memories from that version, and more recent one is quite different.

There is no UMMU support whatsoever in the old version, neither there is a way to add pod engines (interesting idea, probably to be added).
That version is quite dated, and not very stable.

You can try various common-sense fixes, like making sure the program is running under Orbiter 2006P1 directory, etc.

You say that it crashes but you fail to provide any information which could help troubleshoot. For example:

1. Does it crash on ALL meshes or just one?
2. What is the error message you get when it crashes?

I think the part about pod engines was my question from the alpha testing thread. Thanks for an answer!

so the application just closes and you don't get a "VB subscript out of range" message or anything?

Nope it just does the whole Vista/7 white out the screen then a message comes up saying 'Orbiter shipyard has stopped working'.

You can get details for this error from Event Viewer that should be listed in Administrative Tools in Control Panel. If you find it post it in

tags.

Crashes for any meshes and no error message.
Okay, sequence of events please.
-"New vessel" in main menu
-"Meshes" in main menu
-"Add mesh" in meshes menu
-Select something in the menu
-"Select" in pre-viewer
-Mesh loaded

At which step does it crash?
