Funny ooops moments

Often when using IMFD to go to the moon it does a de-orbit burn instead of a TLI burn, but blame the autopilot for that

AutosaveMFD... sounds handy.

I remember when I first got the Universal Cargo Deck by Kulch, I put a DGIV on the KSC runway and put about 6 Atlantis SRB's on it's roof, 'cause I wanted to achive orbit without using any of the DGIV's fuel (I didn't have any launch vehicles, or I didn't want to use 'em or something). I forgot the SRBs actually weigh several tonnes (or so it seems) and the DGIV never got off the ground... until the gears collapsed. But it did go fairly fast!

EDIT: It's not a MFD! It's just a module, no wonder I couldn't find it when I did a search. Thanks to Reverend...

Blame yourself. IMFD does exactly what you tell it to.
Hint: Try burning prograde!(and with a positive value ;))

I was watching one of the space walks, on Nasa TV and tried to pan the view, with the joystick. Doh !!!

I've made a lot of the classics: burning up in atmo when I left the comp to get a beverage, wups, bouncing off the moon and heading into deep space uncontrollably (when I didn't want to), crashing probes on Mars (oh wait .. maybe that wasn't me ..) ..

One of the first times I did a runway takeoff with the Delta Glider from KSC I crashed due to pilot error. When I was looking at the screen right after the crash the terrain look really weird. When I crashed I some how ended up inside the Earth so I was looking up through the ground.:unknown:

I accidently got out of earth's SOI riding a Mercury Escape tower...

(I noticed afterwards that someone had unticked the "limited fuel" parameter)

I rode a DGIV on top of a titan stack but the acceleration when the tanks were depleted caused a 15G force on the crew, GLOC and death happened quite quickly, but at least i didn't use any fuel... i have since learned that a bit of throttle control wouldn't go a miss.

on apollo nassp recently i was about have way to the moon and i went to external veiw and relized i forgot to get the LEM.

I'd just downloaded orulex and had a play with it on the moon (amazing btw) and so decided to see what it was like on venus. all started well using transx. aerobroke (if thats a word) into a vesuvian orbit and then enterd the atmosphere. had a good time flying about but decided to land which is when it all wrong. used the retro thrustors but due to the dynamic pressure and heat they broke, same story with the hover thrustors. opend the gear only to watch the debris fall away aswell. made it back into orbit and found a looooooong route back to earth, got myself into a poor orbit when i ran out of fuel. had to do a rescue mission with another DGIV but had to leave one of the crew in a highly eliptical orbit. oops

btw this is my first post, long time orbiteer but only just joined the forum. hello all!!!

I was riding a capsule (from the Airman) down into the atmosphere for a splashdown landing. No problems whatsoever.

Deployed the chute and 2000 meters. Got a little too impatient and adjusted sim speed to 10x. Hit the water at about 9 m/s but still managed to be launched uncontrollably into deep space... with the parachute still open! I was outside the solar system before i managed to figure out what was going on.

Couple years ago I was doing an Apollo NASSP mission to land on the moon. As I was getting ready for LOI I started the burn. This was not my first Lunar mission so I was noticing that It was taking really long for my Orbit to circularize and I was just thinking maybe I'm trippin. Well I decided to check external view and see what was goin on outside, well the S4B with the LM was still attached. :(:(:(:(

I was still able to get back home with enough fuel but the landing had to be terminated.

landing in the pluto moon , with the DGIII, a hard touchdown, bouncing, and taking damage, but i can´t stop the spin and i finaly i was destroyed after one minute of low gravity and hard bouncing.

i´ve tried to get out of the spacecraft some crew members but i was unable to do this. perhaps it was better because a rescue mission could take several years to arrive :(.

so howd you get to pluto in the first place even with time accelaration that would take along time

After doing a Lunar Free Return, I decided to try to do a large mid-course correction, an inside-burn to get the ship to enter the atmosphere for a nice smooth aerobrake from Lunar Return. Man, this burn is taking forever. I kept burning down till a PE of about 75 km.

I turned time compression on to get a little closer to Earth, I turn prograde to see Earth right in front of me with the direction vector cross smack dab in the middle of the Earth. I was headed to Australia -- The direct route, at about 10.7 km/s. Re-entry took about 20 seconds. I was burning up in the atmosphere so fast I thought I had time compression on.

It turns out that when I did that inside burn, I had the orbit MFD turned on, and instead of distance from the surface, I had the DST setting to distance to the center of the earth. So I was doing an approach that had a periapsis of 75 km from the center of the Earth, instead of the surface of the earth. Doh!

You become very, very patient. But that's nothing, try Sedna (on only 10,000x).

D'oh!!!

D'oh!!!
I forgot to switch on the left engine. Launch autopilot crashed me:
