I don't know what prompted me to do it, but I decided to open up orbiter for the first time in months. My new monitor (1650 x 1080) is nice, although the DGIV doesn't have a panel view for it..*sniff*

But yeah, as a refresher course, i decided to dock to ISS. Went alright, although I miss judged my speed and ended up over shooting by a km, but not that bad. Other then that, peace of cake.

So, then i REALLY wanted to test my skillz, and de-orbit. I undocked, ejected the 4 people besides the pilot (yup, they all died. Poor souls. O well). During re-entry, i decided to start dumping fuel. Down to 2% fuel. Made me light as hell, and i needed to adjust on AerobrakeMFD.

Approach to Cape Canaveral was fine, until i took off the autopilot. Oh great, im directly above the base. O well, turn on air brake, go inverted, and point down, right? BEEP BEEP BEEP. O great, Airbrake broken. Quick, pull up, pull up....

Ended up smacking into the ground going about 30m/s vert speed. Gear was destroyed, computer failed, and a bunch of otehr problems. But i survived. Next time, i should plan the MFD for 10km before the base....

Feels good to start orbiter again. Although i STILL need to figure out how to get to Mars...

How high were you? Too high to fly a Heading Alignment Cone?

I'm not exactly sure on the altitude, but i'm gonna take a guess: 5km. And directly over the runway (i touched down about halfway down it)

Ill make a mental note to never fly with you as pilot
oh, come on, i woulda deposited them in ISS, but it wouldn't let me, so I decided to dump them off in space.

And, be real. If i were flying with you, I'd at least have the decency to burn you with my exhaust first so you'd die quickly then slowly run out of oxygen :P:P:P

I know how you feel.. I go months without using Orbiter, then get that 'urge' to dust it off every once in a while.

And hey, in my opinion, DGIV makes crashing FUN!
