Nasa jubilant at urine solution

I recall when I talked about processing of substances onboard a spacecraft for Space orbinomics, where a forum member said something about "we are going to learn about urine" :lol:. Probably he thought it was funny, and in a certain way it is.

Well, here you have it. Astronaut urine becomes news. :lol:

In space it is biomass and a disruption in mass flow could become an issue. So funny or not, this is what happens when you go to space... ;)

You better do not drink beer if the urine unit has a malfunction... :cheers:

Not all of it gonna be urine, the sweat and all that stuff will take about 30% of it.

30% urine, 70% "sweat and all that stuff" (collected as condensate at the air conditioners).

:lol:

"Work has been somewhat slower than expected because astronaut Heide Stefanyshyn-Piper lost her tool bag during the first spacewalk."

He is going to get :censored: like this for a long time. :lol:

Heidi is actually a she.;)

Weird, I thought that she sounded like a he when she was cussing about the bag.

Anyway off topic, but even more off topic, here is picture of the ebay listing of the bag;

The funny thing is that we ALL drink urine in some way, because the stuff happens to be recycled by Nature. If that recycler works well it's going to have some nice applications not just for space travel (where recycling will end up being a necessity) but on Earth as well, even if you're not Kevin Costner and if you don't have gills.

I sent something of a scathing email to the BBC. The news coverage of the missions has been derisive, puerile and inaccurate.

Just like how some people thought that STS-124 was launched only to fix the ISS's toilet.
