You can download viewing quality improving add-ons, though having all them enabled might take having a top-end system.

Spacecrafts that are currently incorporated: Buran, Soyuz-TMA, the Sputnik, an SDI laser cannon in Polus and Skif mods (the latter can shoot stuff down!), MAKS space plane, a fictional servisable orbital plant, the Mir space station.

BTW... Volunteers are needed by the screen saver's maker to prepare a German translation of the next release. A translation from either Russian or English to German is required. The best way of volunteering is to email Vadim Lukashevich directly.

Well, I doubt I could do it right, as I can only do a English->German translation in a good way, but maybe somebody else here can do a direct Russian-German translation.

There are no terms of use stated for the 3D models. Obviously, you can download what's there and use for your satisfaction. However, only few of the entire set of models are available to download from the site in the form of high-poly 3D bCAD meshes (there's a link for the free and commercial versions of bCAD software as well). To get them all, you have to order Buran Multimedia Encyclopedia on 3 DVD volumes ($63 per set).

The 3D models that are available without purchasing the encyclopedia:

• Energia + Buran
• An-225 + Buran
• T-4
• T-4 based space complex
• Su-27 KM naval fighter project

The rest are available for downloading in low-poly 3DSMax format.

Russian to German would be preferable, but with the lack of available translators at the moment, English to German is OK too.

The technology have improved since the Sputnik. Don't ever try to listen to the GLONASS signals singing in unison. It might take just four satellites to send you into the Realm of Hades. :lol:

The version 1.53 of Buran Screen Saver is available for download.

The new version does incorporate not only Buran launch and orbital operations, but also reentry, S-shaped glide path approach and landing with the ultra-realistic environmental scenery.

A number of other overall improvements are also done to the screen saver, including better textures, look of clouds, etc (beware of the tall system requirements with all options on!)
