STS-126 payloads

Will this improved ISS be released with SSU?

If it is, we may design scenarios only for that.

Sorry... aren't you working on ISSU? Within the scope of SSU, we will only do Shuttle and some specialist payloads, but not do the ISS... we have enough work with the realism of the Shuttle.

Also, to what quality is this improved ISS? Is it detailed? Could you post a pic?

Thanks

OK. I am obviously not able to communicate today.

! Seems to me that the comm breakdown is on Pete's end, not yours. I find your previous reply very clear. Pete's on the other hand:

Hello Guys...
Yes, it seems there is a bit of confusion :P...
For now, ISSU is in an "hold on" status because we are searching another good coder because our (RussH) leaved the team due to an issue with our research department. So, for now, there is Thorton working alone on his awesome external while me and Pete are searching someone to continue the work started. We need to re-start again all the coding work, so we don't know if we can test soon the SSU with an ISS Ultra :(.
But the project ISN'T deleted, is only in "station keeping" for the moment ;).

Well, I wouldn't code more than a pure PMA, and that only for testing the ODS in nature.

@ Urwumpe:
Sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought you were saying that you were going to do an ISS Ultra. Sorry, my fault.:P

Yes, as The Aviator said, Thorton is currently proceeding with his exteriors work until we can find a new coder, then we can add systems + interiors.

Thorton has a PMA already done, I'm sure if you contact Thorton, you may be able to arrange a test between SSU & that.

if your code isnt very complicated i think i can add support of your ODS to pma and station.

Currently, I am thinking about the following design, which means most of the magic happens inside the SSU module:

You have a docking port - logically.
At the same place, you have a child->parent attachment. Code for the attachment is "APAS9".

The Shuttle first attempts to attach to the attachment when docking. When the attachment is made, the "CAPTURE" light lights.

When the ring is retracted and the latches opened, the normal docking is done.

Undocking happens as usual unless you have closed latches.

So you need only docking port and attachment point?

"APAS9" - is it attacment point identifier string?

Yes and yes... for the beginning. I am not sure if it works out.

Also, I later need the two LEDs at the PMA, which are used for indicating the state of the ISS ACS.

Ok, when you finally decide what you need send me PM

That's pretty much what I had in mind also. The ISS attachment point could be created at docking-time by SSU; this would let SSU dock to any other vessel without having to add new attachment points. During the retract sequence, we'll probably have to destroy the SSU docking port; otherwise, the shuttle will keep docking to the ISS.

OK, here's the latest on these scenarios:

We are now going to do the scenarios for SSU only. We will use ISS Experience. We will use all parameters from the actual STS-126 mission. We will also include an actual STS-126 soundpack. We will use an LMC by DaveS. We are aiming to get someone to help with an FHRC.

We can't do anything until SSU v1.25 is released (I'm not trying to pressure or moan at the SSU guys, I'd rather they take their time & get a good job done, than release a buggy version too soon):)

Donamy: If you are reading this, do you think it would be possible for us to be able to release an updated version of your ISS experience - with ESP-3 on top of the MBS, etc.....?

Thanks all,

-Pete

Working on that now. I was contacted by Mario, and we are working on the 126 payload and I could do the updates to the ISS experience. I'm just wondering how it should be named, so there are no conflicts with other addons, Davis413's ISS Fleet for instance.

Donamy:

Seems as we are all working on the same thing, we might as well all work together, what do you think???

Me & The Aviator are willing to do all scenario & payload attachment work.

I can handle the soundpack.

With regard to names: Can't you simply just name them things like "MBS-IE"??
IE = ISS Experience???

Just what sort of work were you planning to do??? Will you use the new SSU, and will you use the new MPLM from OH???

-Thanks,

-Pete

The 126 payloads are meant to use with SSU and ISS Experience, the attachments are pretty much done from the previous addons, just need updating.

Right, OK then.

I think DaveS can do us a nice LMC. The Aviator has already started work on getting together all the actual mission data from STS-126. I will start doing some sound recordings from launch.

If you are planning to use the new SSU, then it would probably be better to do the mission with any shuttle for now, then when the new SSU is released, just insert it into the scenario & copy the orbit data from the previous shuttle to it, that way it will take less time when it is released.

And also for naming, can't you just make a seperate ISS Experience folder, and put all you ISS stuff in there, so there are no conflicts???

I assume you are using the MPLM by Joseph Morgan from OH???

I will PM you soon with more info..

-Pete

ALSO...

Are you planning on doing an FHRC & NTA?

I don't know if you plan to be able to do anything with them on orbit, except attach them to & from ESP-3?

I think Dave also explained you that it isn´t LMC!!! Its MPESS Freestar was used for STS-107.

LMC is here
