Wow that was a quick response.
I too think that, But why do all does people vote MCain if there's quite a fair change he'l die the following 4 years

Is it the president's duty to "run America"?

I think the sarcasm was lost on you.

Really funny thing: right after I posted here my phone rang and it was a recorded message from Sarah Palin.

What do you mean with that? And ok not run, but able to be head of state of the US.

Greg was being sarcastic in his reference to all the negative media coverage Palin gets, in which the new reporters paint her as unworthy of the office, as a country hick and a religious extremist.

That's the news getting trough here in the Netherlands. But when you see her speeches about Obama there are people screaming 'terrorist' and 'kill him' and she doesn't oppose that. Mcain does oppose heavy insult against obama

Sarah Palin, I can confidently say, does not support killing Mr. Obama, nor does she call him a terrorist. And she can't spend all her time shouting down the crazies. I see the media's actions have had their intended effect on your perception.

Let us know when this gets reported where you live:

http://www.timesleader.com/news/breakingnews/Secret_Service_says_Kill_him_allegation_unfounded_.html

The agent in charge of the Secret Service field office in Scranton said allegations that someone yelled “kill him” when presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s name was mentioned during Tuesday’s Sarah Palin rally are unfounded.
The Scranton Times-Tribune first reported the alleged incident on its Web site Tuesday and then again in its print edition Wednesday. The first story, written by reporter David Singleton, appeared with allegations that while congressional candidate Chris Hackett was addressing the crowd and mentioned Obama’s name a man in the audience shouted “kill him."

News organizations including ABC, The Associated Press, The Washington Monthly and MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann reported the claim, with most attributing the allegations to the Times-Tribune story.

Agent Bill Slavoski said he was in the audience, along with an undisclosed number of additional secret service agents and other law enforcement officers and not one heard the comment.

“I was baffled,” he said after reading the report in Wednesday’s Times-Tribune.

He said the agency conducted an investigation Wednesday, after seeing the story, and could not find one person to corroborate the allegation other than Singleton.

Slavoski said more than 20 non-security agents were interviewed Wednesday, from news media to ordinary citizens in attendance at the rally for the Republican vice presidential candidate held at the Riverfront Sports Complex. He said Singleton was the only one to say he heard someone yell “kill him.”

“We have yet to find someone to back up the story,” Slavoski said. “We had people all over and we have yet to find anyone who said they heard it.”

Hackett said he did not hear the remark.

Slavoski said Singleton was interviewed Wednesday and stood by his story but couldn’t give a description of the man because he didn’t see him he only heard him.

When contacted Wednesday afternoon, Singleton referred questions to Times-Tribune Metro Editor Jeff Sonderman. Sonderman said, “We stand by the story. The facts reported are true and that’s really all there is.”

Slavoski said the agents take such threats or comments seriously and immediately opened an investigation but after due diligence “as far as we’re concerned it’s closed unless someone comes forward.” He urged anyone with knowledge of the alleged incident to call him at 346-5781. “We’ll run at all leads,” he said.

Hey wait: Do you want to tell us, that she is not a country hick and religious extremist?

She's both, but apparently those are seen as positive traits for a presidential candidate in the USA, because the world needs another 8 years of America attacking countries because god told their president to do it.

With all the coverage she's getting (as opposed to the actual presidential candidate she's running with), it looks to me like the media has already decided Mccain will have a heart attack during his acceptance speech...

It is EXTREMELY important in the case of a candidate like Sarah Palin to look VERY closely at her background -- everything she ever said or did. This is CRUCIAL. Who did she associate with? What kind of ideas does she have? You HAVE to ignore what she says NOW, because she's probably lying. The ONLY way to know what kind of political leader she would be is to engage in an in-depth scrutiny of all her past associations and every single thing she's ever done in the past. This is how we can be CERTAIN that she is a hick and a religious extremist -- based on her past associations and actions.

Background: Took part in a pagan contest only to become champion of a group of extreme right republicans, which financed her political career, which is something pretty rare inside the USA.

I can't believe that McCain's complaining about "unfair" media coverage. There's Fox after all...
If I was in the US, I wouldn't trust McCain. He lies too much and picks on little technicalities like "raising the taxes" thing as if they're the truth and nothing but the truth.
I seriously don't believe he gives a damn about global warming. He hasn't done ANYTHING about it yet.

Pailin is running away from reporters like she's scared. Every time you see her on camera, she's late for something :P
The few times she's been interviewed, she's made a fool of herself.
Not to mention she's trying to hide her past mistakes.
But by far the most stupid thing I've heard from her was the other day when she said that the report about firing that trooper did not say that she broke any ethics laws, when the report explicitly said it did. Come on... you think people are that stupid?!

Obama... well, I don't like the fact that he's hiding and lying about his past, but I guess that's to be expected. I also don't like some of the flat out, stupid lies of his.
I watched the replay of the last debate when he said that 100% of McCain's political ads are attack ads. Come on!!!
He could have said "A lot of McCain's ads" or "Majority of McCain's ads at this time"... but instead he made up a stupid lie.

I haven't listened to Biden enough to pick on him, but I'm 100% sure he's no better then the rest.

After all, they're all politicians and their goal is to have as much power as they can and not to do what is really good for the people. The "good for the people" is just sometimes exactly what politicians need to get more power.

But by far the most stupid thing I've heard from her was the other day when she said that the report about firing that trooper did not say that she broke any ethics laws, when the report explicitly said it did.

The report did not say otherwise, she was allowed to fire him without further reason. But she did stuff which is not legal regardless how you turn the situation: She threatened him and let her husband use governor office computers for their private agenda.

I think i've heard enough.

One time someone called me a spic because I was born in Puerto Rico. I almost went to jail for that.

The words that you all choose here, such as hick, are very frightening. I really hate putting words to associate a certain person. I've heard about every name in the book when it describes people. I wouldn't want to call someone a NAZI, or (:censored: for the kiddies) to describe French people.

Now as for the topic, why is no one asking, "would Biden make a good president"?
That seems odd, that you all are choosing this angle of attack, for what seemingly seems like a double standard, would a black person make a good president? Would a jewish person make a good president?

The standards she would have to live up to even being the Second-In-Command, would make for a difficult presidency. I can hear the (:censored:) critics now, "was that a good choice for her?". What a stain they would be.

If everyone quits looking at her sex, and starts looking at her actions, then there is argument. Otherwise there was a southern gentlemen in office, that I really never liked, not for his politics, just for his in-actions based on the events that unfolded in Somalia.

His name was Clinton.

Well, if someone asks Palin about chasing Terrorists down in Pakistan, she opens her mouth and causes headaches, just for answering her opinion on what is a valid question. Now if someone asks Obama, then all hell breaks loose and the poor guy gets investigated and they find out that he's unlicensed, and he's been cheating at his taxes.

I would hate to be a moderator at one of those events, man I would have my whole background info and all the goodies all up on the internet.

Real questions for real people, no matter how differing they may be, at least they get answered.

Edit:
Here is an honest look at one of the candidates tax plan:
My company which I am CEO has the potential next year to make upwards to almost 300 million in gross earnings, however my top guy that I pay is making bank. He is one of the best engineers in the US, and is breaking my cookie jar, effer...
With his pay, I always use that to measure what I will make, if I make less than he does this year, he will be without job.

Now, with current tax credits, tax cuts, small business loans, and all of the above, my tax percentage is quite low. Thank you Mr. Bush, this is why presidents give tax breaks to big companies, because we can spend, expand and make more jobs.
For this current tax plan, I have gainfully employed about 50 people within the San Antonio area.

Thank God.

Now, if one of the tax credits go through, I'm not going to be happy, now I would be making less than my engineer, my product goes higher, and my services get more expensive. The customer doesn't like it, he says, " you've been at this price for almost a few years". Valid point, but I complain that the new tax credits are killing me and now I have to pay more. They agree and they pay more.

Then the games begin, my new earnings shoot through the roof, the gross earnings are at a record pace, and now I'm in a new tax bracket. Well the tax bracket once again shoots me down below the engineers level after all is said and done. Well, can't win here.

I can either bite the bullet and loose, be resentful as hell at the engineer, and just be stressed all freaking day, or start the red tape.

Red tape wins, I decide I need to make profit I cut 3 workers out, and tell them their services are no longer needed. Down to 22 gainfully employed workers.

The tax is still killing me because my record earnings. Still the red tape wins and I cut two of the higher paid workers.

In what I see now, is that I would need to expand. Paying more for what could be determined as another contract.

Customer is not liking the price, I have to suck it in and lower my price. However I still need workers to expand, what is the answer here?

Answer, expanding on the current limitations of my employees. Stretch them to the limits, turn my job into ___hole heaven, and run it into a sweat shop.

All because a president wanted to raise tax on the higher companies.

I think I need to take a break from the forum for a while.

It really is astonishing, isn't it? Flat out amazing. And so seemingly unconscious of the double standards ... truly amazing. I can't tell you how many times I've almost closed the window on this forum and walked away. But then I'll get a PM from someone who tells me that they get some small encouragement from a few of the things I've posted, and I limp on ...
