You know you're addicted to Orbiter when...

......u deliberately kill ummus
......try to show off your skills to others
......flip out when you land just right

When a friend throws a ball and remarks on it's parabolic trajectory, you feel the need to correct them, saying that it's actually a highly eccentric elliptical trajectory.

guilty

when you want to use easy-attach to attach butter and salt to the meat (guilty)

when you claim "touchdown" when you put a glass on a table (guilty)

If you slow down to catch up with the school bus (orbital mechanics) (not guilty, I turn from synchronisation- to docking-mode at the right moment...)

When you build the Delta Glider Paper Model from OrbitHangar, and it becomes your proudest possesion.

Guilty

When you switch into a special film editing class so you can use their computer to play Orbiter. (It has two monitors, lots of ram, and two GPUs!)

Disclaimer: Okay so this isn't actually the reason I'm taking the class but it sure is a nice added bonus!

When the real reason you are taking said class is twofold. First, that you use the computer to play Orbiter, and second, that you use the class to learn the skills that will help you make awesome Orbiter videos.

When someone sends you an email titled "EOI" and you think "Earth Orbit Insertion" (was really an Expression Of Interest for a tender).

when you get your friend to play, then tell which esential addons to get, then which addon you made and try to make him belive it's best (mines crap) and to top it all of you show him as much as possible, WILE AT SCHOOL doing an essential bit of reseach on vaccinations. If the worst happens go into space.;)

today I tried to explain to the science teacher, that a trajectory does NPOT start parabolic, than went elipctical and than wents parabolic again, if something gets faster...
:lol::lol::lol:

How can a trajectory not start out as a parabola?

I found myself with three people around my desk going 'ohhh, ahhh' as I was showing ISS pics from real world and Orbiter. I guess I'm lucky to be working with a bunch of science geeks.

I think what he means is a sub-orbital projectile (eg, the proverbial cannon ball) is not on a parabolic trajectory. It is on an elliptical trajectory that is approximately like a parabolic trajectory when the apoapsis and range are low enough. If you push the cannon ball fast enough its trajectory will actually become a parabola, as it reaches escape velocity.

excactly. We spook about a piece of chal and what hppens if superman throws it...
we have some nice funny teachers at the moment

He understood when I said: "just imagine the chalk coulde go through the ground - than it would still go faster after paassing the eaths centre? that would mean that the gravity pulls things up on the other side of the earth..."

...When you yell at the cinema for every single thing they did wrong when compared to reality.
...When you rush to your room to press ESC 3 times when your car is with no fuel.
...When you develop the Orbiter Operational System.
...When you try to explain how everything in Orbiter works, just to see the "hurr... durr..." face of the people you are talking to.
