HI. I was wondering if anybody knows the temperture that you start to see flames on the XR5 hull during reentry, it seems that I don't even see them until past 1300 C.That seems awful High compared to DGIV.Oh and what Autopilot is best to use in XR5 for reentry. Thanks

Hi,
I'm not sure about the reentry flames, but the best autopilot to use is the attitude autopilot (I think with the AoA button selected).

The reentry flames are rendered by Orbiter core, not the XR5. The reason you rarely ever see them is because XR5 has very high lift and stays in the upper atmosphere during most of reentry.

I guess if you would do your reentry in such a way that you would get hoter temperatures, like doing most of the braking at lower altitudes, then you would get reentry flames. But I also think you might burn up.
