XR2 Config Program

Do you plan to have a transferable save file? so people can share and exchange configs easily?

Well, it's just like any other save file so I suppose sharing configs would be comparable to sharing files like ".doc" (word document) and ".pdf" (adobe reader).

So, in other words, yes they will be transferable over the internet. I've never posted anything on OrbitHangar, so I'm not sure if it will let you post the specific type of file; maybe if it is in a ".zip"...

Sorry to derail this thread a bit but I just noticed that when I made a scenario with two XR2s in it (initially 1 was blue skin 1 was silver skin).. the next time I loaded the quicksave file they were both silver. Does this mean because of only one config file all XR2s in your scenario must have the same skin?

I just made a scenario with two XR2's in it and the skins were different. I can't seem to recreate your problem. The skins are loaded from the scenario, not the config.

Well, it's totally up to you guys. I really don't mind making one, but if it isn't needed, then I suppose that's okay too.

Do it anyhow ! If you think something would be useful, chances are there are others ( like me for example ) who would also find it useful. I for one am tired of editing files and scenarios just to add the XR-5 or XR-2 with the paticular skin or cargo of my choice before adding them to a simulation I want to run.

A simple editor like that used by the DeltaGlider MK-IV would be simply the single missing piece in the XR-series of spacecraft.

Just wanted to quickly give everyone an update about the progress of the config program. So far I've added a couple tabs that each sum up a section of the XR2 preferences. The tabs are as follows:

-General (Often used settings like fuel consumption)
-Oxygen/APU
-ATM/Control (Anything that controls the ship or atmospheric flight)
-Sound
-Other

Does that sum up the entire (aside from failures and crew) preference file? I sat down and wrote out all the options and those are the sections I came up with.

I still have yet to make the failures or crew sections. I think I could have a pretty good config program up within a week or two, although that would not include the XR5 or either of the previously mentioned sections.

Don't forget the option to have the Fuzzy Dice in the XR2.

I'll be sure to include those!

I'm sorry to announce this project may have to be postponed even further. I have a couple other projects at the moment with higher priorities and an upcoming vacation. Don't worry, development has not ceased, but will take longer than expected. Maybe by September I'll have the final program but I can't make any guarantees.

This is not possible as the there is no option for that in the config file.
All that one could do is disable damage due to hull overheating all together.

Yes, TSPenguin is correct. I would not be capable of changing those values since they are hard-coded and not part of an accessible file (at least without changing the dll which I am not capable of; nor would I try if I could since it is changing someone's code and could result in some other problems).

Hello again guys. This month has been nothing but work lately, but now I am free again to continue development on the config. I'm including some screen shots of the config so far just to give everyone an idea of where it is going.

In the finished application, the blank area will have a picture of the XR2 and include a schematic pointing to the particular areas. Hopefully it will be a visual representation of the values. It would be appreciated if someone could make the overhead "schematic" type picture of the XR2.

i wanted to make it so there are only 4 people when i spawn an XR vessel in. first i deleted the extra passengers in the config file. this resulted in still a full crew but everyone but the first 4 were civilians with exact matching stats.

i knew something was wrong and replaced all the files, this time just deleting the values (name, pulse, etc.)

i have the crew that i want but also an annoying message that flashes at the bottom of the screen saying the config was parsed incorectly and to check the log. i checked it and got this.

i would also like to point out that even though only the 4 that i wanted were in the EVA menu, the LOX indicator still showed the full 18 person crew

Looks like there are many lines with a fault. Maybe copy the original cfg and try editing just a little thing and then see id it works. Then you can change more the same way.

i was trying to make the crew just not apear once i spawned in the ship since kicking them out and deleting them everytime was cumbersome. if i delete all values then the crew is gone but i get those errors. even if i just delete one value like the name it would still come back with an error. i want to know how to properly stop excessive crewmates from spawning in with every ship.

Just a little update for everyone.

I have added a new crew tab that allows the user to configure everything about the crew from the utility. When the user presses File->Load Current Orbiter Config, the utility retrieves all the current crew data that can be edited. At the moment this data cannot be saved into the config, but this functionality will probably be implemented soon (by tomorrow).

I also plan to add 1 or 2 more tabs to the utility as well. Possibly a Failures tab and a HUD tab. I may even be able to implement random failures into the utility (if this is enabled) which will randomly fail a couple related components when Orbiter is loaded.

Bryces, since I have yet to implement crew saving (no pun intended ) I do not know if saving empty variables will work. I guess I'll find out when I hit that runtime error. :lol:

i was trying to make the crew just not apear once i spawned in the ship since kicking them out and deleting them everytime was cumbersome. if i delete all values then the crew is gone but i get those errors. even if i just delete one value like the name it would still come back with an error. i want to know how to properly stop excessive crewmates from spawning in with every ship.

If that doesn't work, you could just override it in the scenario file.

changing the scenario file works for now but your suggestion wont work. simply deleting the entries gives all of the errors i posted before if i spawn in a new XR class ship
