Okay, so color me waaay out of the loop. I really should not take such huge breaks between Orbiter cycles...
So here I am upgrading my computer to Win7 Pro x64, being as though I get a student discount (finally going back for my BS in Information Systems...long other story) and I need a 64-bit OS to run Adobe CS5 Master Collection apps. I also get a student discount on that, and since I have a side business that involves video editing, Premiere Pro and After Effects seemed a nice upgrade now that I can afford them.
Anyways, I get a wild hair and go poking around to see what's shaking in the Orbiter world since it has been ages since I even fired it up, and now is the logical time to see if a new version is available. And as luck would have it, there it is: freshly released Orbiter 2010.
Well, I guess I should mention that family is a big reason I fell away from Orbiter months (a year) ago; between a new baby and work, there just hasn't been time. I can't even remember the last time I flew anything in FS2004 (no, I don't have FSX...'nother long story). It dawned on me that Orbiter is probably the most family-friendly game to play; everything takes so darn long in spaceflight, so I can just fire it up, let the spacecraft run around a few orbits to do the rendezvous while I go do family things, then come back with plenty of time left to complete rendezvous and dock. Nice! So obviously I had to sniff around to find my favorite add-ons again, since I was reasonably sure they had all been updated (Boy. Howdy.) So off to orbithanger and back to orbiter-fourm I came; and I find that now I have a blog!
Okay...what was I doing again?
