As to your problem. Clarify for me please. Do you mean the cargo meshes? or the loading of the cargo? or?
 
This looks absolutely wonderful.

Just one thing struck me...the large "VAB" seems to be in the way of one of the the runways (making it hard for half the approaches or take-offs). Did I miss something? Your attention to detail is so good I'd imagine this feature to be deliberate... :cheers:
 
That runway is for take off only.
My theory is that the VAB is in that spot to save on heating costs :P
 
That's some serious capability! How long til you try a simultaneous launch of all of them? ;)

Right now I'm building up a set of stock scenarios to place a variety of launchers on the pads. I already have a few multi-launch files, I just need to move the craft.

I've also got a series in mind for building Ascension Station in low Earth Orbit.;)

As far as I am aware, they come with the XR-5 release. Although those ones came with a beta, so maybe they are not all in the final release. If so, oops. But also check out dbeachy's website or send him a PM maybe.

He is correct, it's the launch only runway, not intended for landings. And I left out a VAB heat shield in the end, just to annoy you, TSP. :p

Yeah, that's AIA's next major step. Project Toehold has been on the drawing board for far too long. My plan is for a station on lunar plane, which Ascension is great for. My early flight tests are in the Resolve International addon, but I'm gonna be using the Jupiter V-X and XR5 for the new one. It'll be nice to have some company up there!
 
I plan on using the Resolve, Ariane-6, and the Jupiter-III myself. Just to be a goofball, I may throw the Saturn-V INT into the mix.
 
Hey WEHAVEAPROBLEM I am getting a CTD on your Wideawake preflight XR-5 mission start and freight loading scenarios. Heres the orbiter log error. Hope we can fix this.You did a fantastic job on this Scenery.Thanks Module XR5Vanguard.dll [API v.060425]

have you got the XR5? if you have not you need it

Yeah sorry guys, I found a bit of sloppiness on my behalf.

I assumed, and yes we all know what assumption is, that the XR-5 cargo I had was default release. It turns out that some are not. The example CDT above is missing the certified repair parts 20 footer for example.

The workaround for this is to edit the scenario file, removing or replacing this cargo with cargo containers you do have.

Sorry again for this. Mell, this as your problem too, it was my fault.

I am kind of lost. I just want to copy the cargo from the vanguard 5/config/vessels, but what do I need to copy. Can I please have an example. thanks

but it is excellent fun actually making an approach and landing over the VAB! Use external view on final and see just how toe-curling it is!

Agreed, beautiful work. It is my base of choice at the moment.
 
Interceptor, easiest solution for you: Start a scenario with just the XR-5 in the loading hangar. Then use the in-game cargo editor to fill the hold with whatever compatible cargo you do have. Then unload it, save it.. and bingo, a usable version.

A quick note, if someone didn't notice: it's better to rename the file Config\Earth\Base\Ascencion.cfg to Wideawake.cfg, as this places the airport in a correct position in the list. Sorry if already mentioned somewhere.
 
That's a fair point, Darkwanderer. It is a throwback to previous versions, called Ascension Island. I kept it as Ascension for the WIN release primarily because of that familiarity for users, but also because it puts the base near the top of the base list... which is good PR. ;)

But yes, renaming it would place it alphabetically/correctly.
 
Landing scenarios

I love this base. Wery well done!

But I have a problem:
When I try the landing scenarios you've made, I always start flying away from Wideawake, so I have to turn around. It isn't a big problem, but it is a little bit annoying...

Does anyone else have the same problem? Is it because I use Orbiter 2010? Have you done is with purpose for making a challenge? And how can I (maybe) fix it so I'm going the right deriction?

asbjos, the flying school (Wideawake main office building, room 235) requires that you find the runway in visual and instrumental conditions, from any aspect and altitude, and in almost any aircraft or spacecraft. If you don't find the runway, bail out, and Wideawake SAR team (Control tower, room 13) will get you to the base in half no time.

It's to do with a minor change to Orbiters world layout (I'm not sure if its just earth or all the planets). Anyway, this change puts wideawake behind you in 2010.
