tl8: Yet again you read my mind with your suggestions. I had hoped to stop adding somewhere along the line, although a shipping port, a second VAB/pad, radar/tracking stations and indeed a small worker town were/are on the list... But I want to get on with making modules and things with high poly counts lol. Also I want to keep poly counts down as much as possible and make the base more accessible to more people. I have mentioned before about making a base expansion pack with more buildings and details and la-de-da, but I'm undecided about it really. I could keep going forever if I'm not careful...

I decided to add a second vertical launch pad to the base. So I remodelled the GPLP to produce a smaller version with a 50m tower. It should be suitable for anything up to Ariane 3 (maybe 4) type stuff.
I also extended the VAB to accomodate the new pad and finally got around to reorganising the layout of the support buildings too.

It looks fantastic! Can't wait to fly out of it. I imagine many of a new VSA will call it 'home' soon enough. :)
 
Okies, I decided to draw a line and call it done, bar the odd tweak.
I've added a fair bit of miscilaneous crap, including some simple radars and such. So I just need to compile it into a proper release. I'm pretty busy over the next week, so will probably be next weekend or so.

I knew Ascension Island was gonna be something diffrent when I downloaded the first release ...... but you've really shown just how much can be done with a surface base. That vidoe was a top shelf teaser if I ever saw one. Simply OUTSTANDING.

The base is done, as is the manual pretty much. Just need to do a few more scenarios and bits and bobs, then it's ready for upload. Should be up by the weekend.

Thanks. My AIA paint jobs were done ages ago before the skinable files were available, I directly bastardised the original photshop textures since I was lucky enough to have access to them. But now I think all the re-skinnable stuff has been released for the XR2/5 so customizing it is easier, so I may have a crack at some more AIA themes. We shall see...
