I've been having a weird issue with a semi-new monitor and the new computer I built a week or two ago.
The monitor is an ASUS VS208. It has one VGA input and one DVI. The computer has a single DVI output on the GPU (A Radeon R7 260x). When I hook the DVI out on the GPU to the DVI in on the monitor, the monitor claims that it is not receiving any signal. When run the DVI out on the GPU through a DVI to VGA adapter and hook it up to the VGA in on the monitor (through a KVM switch with my laptop on the other branch), the monitor receives a signal. This rules out any straightforward issue with the GPU.
However, when I use the same DVI cable to hook the DVI port of the monitor up to the DVI port on another computer, the monitor has no problem receiving a signal. This rules out any straightforward problem with the monitor or cable.
Has anyone ever run into a similar issue? If so, what was the cause?
